Looks like many places will see some snow cover early Friday ad it may well last most of the day.

I would of thought the higher parts of the Moors will have good covering by tomorrow Colin. Am currently keeping an eye on your weather station to see if the snow line starts to drop. Currently sat at 1130ft although Im not sure how accurate it is.

Met Office 6am snapshot seems like something very possible looking at air profiles; wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the morning consisted of this for much of the region.

Latest GFS (albeit the 18z) is showing the precipitation a lot further north early on Friday, looking more like the Met Office warning area

Inland would receive quite a lot of snow from this if it's modelled correctly, great opportunity at lower levels also

somehow I think it's overplayed with the graphic we'll see though.

Heaviest rain of the night; double glazing vs. nature is the battle of the day in Tyne and Wear I'm thinking; wind and rain bigger issues than any negligible snow.

1.5c and falling rapidly with plenty more precip to our west, could be decent for here on the hills.

Anyone know what roads are like in Consett area? Also is their lying snow in Bearpark? I'm working outside today! Or should I reschedule work and sit in my pyjamas:-)

Just had a brief spell of light sleet/snow, it blew over quite quickly due to the strong winds. Hope tomorrow morning is still looking good!

Blustery sleet/snow showers in Newton Aycliffe. Nothing lying. In Durham, more snow showers than sleet, but again it's wet and nothing lying as it's a bit too warm.

That's the reason Consett is regarded as one of the snowiest urban communities in the UK.

Now snowing in Aycliffe. Still not lying.
