There was some heavier pulses I noticed and there does seem to be a squall line appearing on the radar(as the Met Office apparently have said) but it just never quite came together sadly.

That said, after last nights lightning display, I can't really complain for sure.

It doesn't feel anywhere near humid enough for thundery activity.

The car thermo is only saying 18c and it's noticeably cooler out this evening, which should make sleeping a bit easier!

Might be some heavy rain but if there is some thunderstorms embedded then we are not going too see any lightning due to this low cloud.

What a night Wednesday night was, I felt like I was back in the States! Very impressive and at times scary. I'm going to make a highlights video of clips of strikes and photos tomorrow but here are a few photos, check out the structure!

Seen plenty of hail damaged cars and trees driving through Sacriston to work, mainly the north side of Sacriston and Daisy Hill. Never thought I'd see that in the UK.

Storm moving away over Newcastle...

Not expecting anything as good as that tonight but I'm still keeping a close eye on it ready to head out to that same spot.

I can see a flash of lightning every 1-2 minutes to my south west now, it looks very distant, I presume it's from those storms over the south Pennines.

I think this first bit on it's way has pretty much died, nothing much on the lightning detector recently.

I think I'll take this chance to get a couple of hours sleep, the stuff down south looks very nice :)

My best guess for an ETA is 03:30. Have a good night!

Thick sea fog and 12.5C here with east wind - could feel this starting late yesterday.
Storms are rapidly approaching from the south none the less.
Presumably they will lose a lot of strength?

Some heavy rain for a time overnight and a few rumbles of thunder but to be honest it was nothing out the ordinary

As for the rest of today it should be a lovely afternoon once the cloud moves away with temperatures into the mid 20's

No idea what time it was, but I was woken by a loud clap of thunder and quite literally torrential thundery rain.

Off out on the drink today, so hoping the sun burns through this murk and leaves us in pleasant sunshine once again.
