Cold out this aft in that strong wind.

Plenty of showers packing in to Ireland at present and they could make it over here perhaps just at the right time temp wise?

Could be a surprise maybe for a few?

Well the METO warning seems laughable so far. Hardly been a flake across Yorkshire, and we're in a yellow warning for 5-10cm on hills!! Very disapointing so far.

It may be that those showers move in later this evening, and overnight, and as Russ says, that could be beneficial with it being night time. We shall just have to wait and see....

Its been a nice day actualy, just cold if your in that strong wind out of the sun!

EDIT: Just noticed all snow warnings have been removed now from METO site. Must be a massive downgrade in shower potential and they no longer see any worries. Boo! :(

Local met office going for rain tonight. Dew point below zero so if any showers come this way they may be wintry. Radar shows a weakening band coming from the west which may survive the pennines but nothing major on the radar at the moment.

Just had a heavy wet snow & sleet shower around 7pm for around 30 mins. No chance of anything settling though I dont think. Radar shows more coming in later maybe, but not expecting much....

Been a let down really, last time we had a cold NWerly we got heavy snow and good depth. This is just wet. Was hoping for a repeat performance, it looked/felt very similar.

Morning all, suprised nobody on here discussing this afternoon's potential... Was a nice suprises to see on this morning's forecast that the Midlands feature looks set to head our way instead (not for the first time this winter mwah ha ha!). Must say it looks a bit marginal for low down, though potential for a suprises based on past experience. Anyway, to cut out the risk I'm thinking I'll do my weekly shop at the Queensbury Tesco today. Anyone up there wanna recommend a pub (and buy me a shandy) please let me know! Good luck today and tomorrow all!

Well its currently just wet sleet up here but i think the cold air is cutting in round this feature so maybe snow on its back edge? Certainly still talk of snow showers for our region for the next few days with maybe a surprise as you say. Fingers crossed for this possible last hurrah!

METO do have a yellow warning out for North, West and South yorkshire for tonight and into the morning:

'Northern areas of England and Wales will see snow chiefly over higher ground, with more than 5 cm in places but with slight accumulations possible at low levels too. Ice will be an additional hazard across much of northern Britain.'

Trying to snow here.

Funny old event because it started with a temperate of 6C and dew of 0C, went to 4C with a dew of 2C but clearly they are both falling again. Possibly evaporative cooling.

I did fancy Fish and Chips though, i don't want to get wet on the way.

Amazing isnt it, just what difference a little bit of distance makes! Still only rain and sleet here. Local variation is big atm, just shows where the cold air has got to!

Enjoy the snow :D

Well how unforecast was this, band was only supposed to go over South Yorkshire last time I looked. Many elvated areas under that band have seen some heavy settling snow!

WOW thats amazing snowjoking! Really good pics too. you cant beat trees covered in snow can you! Beautiful :D

I agree with vizzy too, another epic fail for short range forecasting, only last night the BBC showed a band going accross the midlands, no where near as north or as heavy as it turned out to be!

Plenty to look west for in the next few days I think! :cold:
