The radar appears to be telling porkies, we're under an orange echo at the moment yet there's nothing.

 

More annoyingly it could actually be snowing above me but blowing further south.

I said I might see a flake earlier. Despite my area being under some (albeit lightish) precipitation for 20 minutes or so I think I have seen four flakes!

Well, that's four more than me :-)

dew point is rising rapidly here, was -2.5c now -1.4c humidity has gone up and snow has got slightly heavier

well im glad im not the only one thinking it should be snowing and its not!!! stupid radar. How can a beam lie lol? All i can think is that the air is so cold and dry that its one of those occasions where the radar picks it up but its evaporating before it gets to the ground.

[Cold Winter]

Drove home from Scarborough to just near Pickering at about 5.30 this evening. It was a rain/sleet mix until Snainton then lying snow, deepest around Thornton le Dale where cars were moving at about 5mph max. One unlucky driver had ended up in the beck beside the road after skidding on the snow. Get to Pickering and it's a decent dusting, then where I live just out of Pickering - nothing! Typical. Hoping to get lucky later though, radar looks ok.
