I doubt it. It works the other way when you have an E/NE flow, they die as they try to cross over the Pennines. Seen it so many times.

You was saying? Right about me though

A very pleasant light covering and thunder snow (never seen that before). Need it to pep up again. Great to hear it's making it right through to the East coast.

Thought it was worth a post but this was lightning strikes earlier and when many witnessed Thundersnow.

Hope I've done this correctly :-)

Very similar conditions to here mate!

Glad to see you've finally got a covering. Unfortunately here the wait goes on as it was too wet during the shower that hit us and apart from on car windscreens nothing laid.

Hopefully weekend will be better!

Well after a great 30 mins, it looks like the whole region is going to be clear of activity for a bit. If skies clear at least it will drop temps and freeze what weve got.

I hope we do get the trough late in the night and things keep going later. Tomorrow looks cold at least but Friday is a worry. Dont want to loose what weve got lol, until it turns colder again Saturday. I only want to add to it ;)

Snow stopped. Temperature rising and signs of snow melt with some drip dripping so I am calling it a night.

Lets see what tomorrow brings...

Bedtime me thinks..

Light snow shower at present and increasingly gusty winds. Temp 0.8c. Lights keep flickering too.

Hope to wake up to a good covering but hey this is just the start of another hopefully cracking cold spell. ;-))

Had a few minor showers in Wakefield, and a bit of a covering but now melting.

Not really much to get excited about to be honest.

This whole spell will be nothing to write home about I suspect. No prolonged snow forecast, just showers which won't end up amounting to much.

Sadly no Feb 1991 on the horizon.

Yep, our two year wait is over. Drove back from Lincoln about half an hour ago and it was surprisingly tricky.

Finally!

First snowfall for 2 years!

Funnily, hardly owt on the radar, yet enough to give a nice dusting.

Temp 0.7C, Dew -0.3 so close but close enough.

Radar going quiet now though.

Well after last years awful winter i think the charts for the next 6 days or so are looking excellent. I've witnessed thundersnow for the first time tonight so it's definitely an excellent start to the cold spell here.

But these are very rare events, it's like being disappointed every winter because it's not a repeat of 1962/63.
