Back on here after a long sabbaticle. Looking at the model's,some room for optimism for maybe something colder in the xmas period.Haven't seen a snowflake since jan 2013 so would be nice.In the more immediate short term, can't wait for sunday, going in the field over the fence to hopefully see the  sun rise on the shortest day. Love cold weather but not all this darkness.

Welcome back cornish one, take a peek in the MOD thread as I posted a couple of updates in there this afternoon. Khodds, if you are around, I've also replied to your query about 2010 in there.

The exitment got the better of me,been lurking for a while, forgot my password. Wouldn't it be nice to see something wintry over the holidays. Long time coming.

I'm with you on that .

Later next week is looking good but still to far out in FI for my liking.

We live in hope.

I do feel a trend developing here and one to keep me glued to them models .

If we can get the winds high enough(n/w) for long enough,we've got a chance. To much north wind, sunny and cold,to much west, cold and damp. Norwester seems to work for us,down here.

Thanks GTLTW - I just read it. Keeping everything crossed that the models don't drop the idea now. Nice to know more than one on board tho.

And so it begins... I'm waking up every morning and the first thing I do is check in the MOD thread for the latest... Housework falls by the wayside, I don't listen to people who are talking to me because I'm engrossed in the weather. Kill me now, im obsessed!!

Wouldn't want it any other way though!!

I just hope having moved up on the moors my elevation here is enough to get some of the good stuff predicted in the latest weather models. The hunt for being snowed in continues!

Well the GFS p is sticking to its guns and is holding on to the idea of a Greenland block!

This will be taking over from the GFS in the new year right?

Do we trust it!?

Well it's a trend its holding on to so I'm keeping my eye on this one along with the ECM .

Maybe something good for us down here in the far southwest!

Channel low has become the elusive dream I chase every winter and yet to see in my 20+ years of living in the westcountry :nonono:

Temp is still creeping up tonight, 13.0c now.

Lol

Though that's based on the very specific detail of two of those shortwaves/channel lows giving lying snow to the SW and winds falling light, very reliable at t+276..

Yup only 11 days out!

Bbbbbbalmy weather out there today 11.4C low overnight, rushes to check advent calendar,. COnfirmed it is door number 18 I opened this morning, and out popped an umbrella and a raincoat. I noticed that "Olaf" was a puddle in door number 26.

We are still in the northern hemisphere right?

Double figures overnight, December, southern hemisphere type weather.

Can the words "reliable" and "t+276" be used in the same sentence?

So the annual Winter Weather chase for our part of the world possibly starts in earnest next week.

Morning all - plenty of action to come in next couple of months; hopefully of the snow kind.

And much twitching of living room curtains, probably to the annoyance of 'the boss', as we move into the 'heart of winter'.
