Just vile... not in an interesting way. Even heard a bird chirping - probably a robin getting his mitts on territory for spring.

Braved the mud and took the dogs for their walk, but even that wasn't much fun - the farmer has spread his fields with pig 'you-know-what' and it stank... Can't even get some fresh air here.

Getting married next week so would really appreciate it the 14th

Congratulations, would you like snow on your big day? It is supposed to get colder but I think the cold will arrive on the 20th! Mild and cloudy here! Couple of wet and windy days approaching! :smiliz23:

There's a thrillseeker inside me that would like the above charts to verify

As a weather enthusiast it really does excite me but its somewhat tempered with realism

I do not think the population would appreciate such extreme weather...

living where I do it would be a really awesome event and as you say many wouldn't enjoy it but hey as long as they listen to the warnings they can stay at home and stick the heating on... I for one would be more than happy with it... I lived thru the great storm of 87 living in one of the worst hit areas....

Well you would be looking at near 60mph suistaned winds for the Coastal parts of East Anglia, more widely 40-55 mph with gusts touching 80-100mph in places, pretty snappy.

I concur with that you are tucked away in your cosy quaint property, while London is swarming with people. 1987 was a real bad one for the SE, I should know as our family caravan went flying, East Sussex - I think we are certainly going to get a big one, again the question is when - I've been expecting a storm of similar proportions for some time. Perhaps this month may hold out to that. Some are quite ignorant tbh, and there's the danger.

I've been terrified of wind storms since 87, never want to hear or see anything like it again period. I'm hoping that storm down grades or disappears.

You must have suffered some damage in the 87 storm, no wonder you fear them, gusts were 90+ mph, almost like being in a hurricane! Keep an eye out for the weekend, hopefully the storm will get downgraded. :smiliz34:

I certainly wouldn't want to be off the North West of Scotland in a boat Fri/Sat...100mph gusts !!!!! However I would image that'll downgrade as time goes on, usually gets over played....let's hope so anyway. The 87 Storm certainly wasn't fun & luckily it happened during the night

Very small hints at something colder for us between 18th /22nd but nothing yet to get too excited about. I think we should relax & ride this one out till it starts.

I got a feeling the MO thread will go into.meltdown and the toys will get thrown around atleast half dozen times till we enter the reliable timeframe of potential

Is this going to happen? What are the wind speeds for London going to be then?

I would imagine around 50mph gusts around the outskirts of the City.

I'm very worried now panicking even

To far away to worry about, there may not be any storm modeled for that day tomorrow, or a weaker looking normal one. If it's still showing a couple of days before I'll join you in the panicking, but for now there's really no need to.

GFS is known for really spinning up lows in the unreliable time frame, if there is anything to worry about the met office will post warnings on their site nearer the time. It should hopefully downgrade or disappear.
