Seems those wind speeds were a little over board and Meteo have corrected their speeds...

A long evening for everyone it seems, even the experts.

Yellow wind warning now

Indeed

Gale force northerly winds are expected to develop across southeast England in the early hours of Saturday giving gusts of 50-60 mph quite widely and perhaps as much as 65 mph on exposed coasts of Kent. Winds should gradually ease from the west during the morning.

The public should be aware of the risk of some disruption to travel.

A deepening depression which has been moving southeastwards across England overnight will move away into the near continent this morning. As it does so very strong northerly flow will develop on its western flank and affect southeast England for a time.

Temperature just gone up slightly, but currently, 1.3 degrees, with a DP of 0.0.  Looking at radar, further precipitation to arrive soon, should fall as snow.

The temperature has dropped 4ºc in the past 45 minutes in my nearest location according to http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/?lat=51.476860658824506&lon=-0.44461327999999867&zoom=8&wxsn=1

That's hefty... all we need now is some ppn!!  :D

Just before it looks like the precipitation is going to arrive, temps are moving in the wrong direction again, up from 1.2 degrees to 1.7 and rising.

And lo and behold... some ppn starting to form just NW of London!

NetWeather radar has it down as snow... let's see.

Light snow here. Had heavy wet snow about tea time then got up to 4C, now 0.6C. Knew it was going to be a close call. 40 miles north and it's a winter wonderland.

+2.8C here now, so that's half a degree colder in about 5 minutes. Wow!

Finally temperatures are starting to drop here from a high of 8C. Eyes on the radar for any precip towards morning.

The way the low is deepening, could be some nasty winds by morning. Can see 70mph+ in Dover for example.

Some precipitation forming to the NW of London, coming in at a SE direction. Considering the drop in temperature, this may fall as snow. Radar shows it as a mixture. Time to decide whether i should stay up or not for this

Stay up, going to go through quickly first so won't be long till you can go to bed. Temp dropping like a stone. 1.2c here was 7.8c 2 hrs ago!!

Still in the warm center of the low here, much less wind temp 8.1, so dropping from a high of 8.9 at the min.

Will never beat the time a sharp cold front went through one day in April. Went from 10.8C down to 2.7C in about 15 minutes. I remember standing underneath the gazebo with a T-shirt and then suddenly needing a jumper as it was so cold.

Temperature has just gone down another 2ºc in the past 20 mins... now 3ºc, with some ppn heading this way. Could be a sleety mix?
