Jax you must be in another country, how was today mild? The whole of our region has been under a rather cold NE flow, cold front swept through in the early hours. Welcome back hbl to the crazy house, fasten your seatbelt.. ;) presently 4.5C - light NE wind, 3C dew point.

I didn't need a scarf or gloves late this afternoon, so it doesn't count as bitterly cold in my books, although I admit I was somewhat surprised to see a chap at the end of the road in a tee-shirt, cut-off jeans and sandals. He appeared quite happy, though.

Morning all,

Well the weather has certainly turned more seasonal - nothing too exciting yet but at least it feels colder than practically all of last winter!

Morning, this is one of the mornings where you don't have to look out of the window to know what the weather is like.

100% low level cloud cover again anyone

Bring on the weekend and the "cold snap"

Moaning all

Stuck my head out the window and seems a tad breezy out, may even have a hint of rain on the wind, feeling a bit cooler too.

I bought one of those really powerful Maglite torches and it has an obvious warning not to shine it directly into eyes! What does my mum do........ :help::wallbash: :doh:Weatherwise, from what I can see  (which isn't much at the moment) the sky is a strange shade of green with bright flashing yellow patches and purple drizzle seems to be falling out of the sky, oh and my cat looks orange! Thanks to my brother for typing this out for me! :D 8.0c!

I have to laugh when I hear people talk about it being mild, it was ficking freezing today. Mild it was definitely not.

Very icy in the air, I agree.

Face felt sting-y, which I haven't felt for a while.

Just the usual suspects on the MOD thread. I wonder what the winter will hold for us? Hope it's far better than last year.

Loving the fact that it's 'seasonal'!  It needs to be cold to get rid of all the germs.  Wouldn't it be lovely to have a white Christmas (as long as everyone's where they need to be :-), and as long as you keep feeding the birds). I still remember the icicles from 2010, never seen anything like it.  IMHO, winter, should be just that......winter!!!!

The wildlife really did suffer in 2010, we cleaned out the garden pond in spring and found almost 20 dead frogs. But it was a memorable winter.

Strange it feels warmer than yesterday here, temp at the moment is around 7.4 and has been going up slowly all day. I thought this rain we had was a cold front?

Temp yesterday was a steady 5.8 all day and night.

I noticed that, too, and wondered whether it's because the relative humidity has dropped by about 20%.
