Still have the icicles hanging off the shed, suspect they will still be there later this evening.

Just looked out and it is like icy/drizzle rather than fog now.

Here's Michael Fish, 20 years ago today, predicting the threat of sleet and snow for the SE. I think this forecast largely came off there was some snow in places

Remember that forecast.  Just rain for me but think Kent got some slushy snow on top of a few inches from New Years day.

Looks like it will dip to freezing tonight!

You may find this forecaster more to your liking! :smiliz19: http://www.weatherweb.net/wxwebtv2.php[/quote

Great link, thanks very much.

Indeed.

Thanks guys! Glad you found the link helpful! He presents his forecasts well and his model analysis is easy to understand. I find I don't need to read  the MOD thread and experience all the childish behaviour in there, once I've watched his forecasts! :smiliz19:

It was foggy until 11am today and the temperature didn't rise much above 3.3c in the gloom! The fog is starting to form once again. :(  A couple of storms heading this way this week and then a potential freeze to follow mid month! :w00t:

looks like fine sleety snow falling here, or my eyesight cannot adjust to the new low energy street lights they have fitted near by.

Looking from another window it may be drizzle with the odd flake in it, slizzle?

Despite a much better pressure pattern today, it has barely managed to be better than yesterday. Grey, dreary with temperatures around 3 or 4C.

At least it was dry.....  :pardon:

Max today 3.3C chilly day, but to be expected in January, when the Northern Hemisphere is at its most coldest. I do not want a 2013 repeat thank you very much, too many people pin their hopes on the strat & MJO I just think we need a bit of luck. I'm punting for a pattern change for final third, enveloping the UK with cold/very cold N/NE winds with blocking to our west, mid Atlantic ridge providing to be stubborn. Ensuing cold air plunging S.

Fax charts

Tomorrow

PPVE89.gif?31415

Gentle south westerly winds

Another dull day expected, with temperatures gradually lifting from around now onwards. Aside from a little drizzle, conditions should be dry.

Temperatures

nmmuk-0-26-0.png?04-18

Probably reaching 8-11C by mid-afternoon. A touch cooler in the north of the region.

Tuesday

PPVI89.gif?31415

Light to moderate winds, starting south westerly and then veering north west as the front pushes through.

Rain shouldn't be too heavy, so probably just another grey day with light to moderate rain pushing east during the afternoon.

Temperatures

nmmuk-0-50-0.png?04-18

9-11C

Wednesday

PPVK89.gif?31415

A strengthening south westerly wind

Starting dry with sunny spells and a patchy ground frost. Turning cloudier later with rain arriving in all areas by evening.

Temperatures - Rising to 8-10C, these increasing as we go into the night.

The final part of the week and into the weekend looks pretty mild before temperatures drop to near normal levels from next Sunday and into the following week. The pattern remains unsettled til mid-month. The jury is still out on the cold spell beyond mid-month.

Call me dubious but I suspect a drier and cooler second half of January if likely, though nothing I would call significant.

How on earth can you remember a forecast from 20 years ago?!

Anyways, very chilly here with thick fog

I've never forgotten another forecast by MF from 1987, never liked wind storms since.
