Well some potentially exciting weather to come in the early hours of the morning as the temperature should fall away from a horrible 9C to around 3C here in the space of 2 and a half hours. Potential for a flurry or two, but as Kent Blizzard says above I think it's not quite worth staying up for as I may find myself just staring out the window at branches moving about in the wind! Has anyone got much of a clue as to the rough path of any showers tomorrow?

0.3C Here in Emneth on the Cambridgeshire Norfolk border with a good covering after the rain turned to snow around a hour ago, was briefly snowing around 8.30pm before the temperature crept back up but dropped again around 11pm.

Just looking at current wind gusts around the South Coast, many stations are reporting 70+ MPH Winds. Exposed IOW Station had 109mph earlier. No wind warning from the MetO? Normally anything above 60mph they issue at least a yellow one!

if theres snow in Peterborough then that's the leading edge of the wrap around band.

The cold air will be digging now, so expect the snow to move south,...

do you think we'll get any here Steve?

Highest gusts at the moment shown as 64mph at Portland on www.xcweather.co.uk . Where are you getting your readings from? Especially the 109mph. Must say though, I think the wind has been a bit overlooked. Was really gusty earlier here. Quite calm now as the centre of the low moves over but likely to get quite strong again in the early hours and tomorrow morning as the low passes through.

The wrap around is pretty evident on the rainfall radar now too.

For anyone who hasn't see it, here is pretty good at seeing temperatures realtime http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/?lat=51.476860658824506&lon=-0.44461327999999867&zoom=8&wxsn=1 (quicker at updating than XCweather)

They are all privately owned stations so the data isn't 100% reliable but it's a pretty good indicator.

It's not gusting 85-145 mph in southern England. They must mean kmh. Edited by Cheese Rice

Absolutely wild here, plenty of flooding from the heavy rain a gale force south easterly wind. Not quite the event that has been advertised, but pretty typical for up here in east Norfolk.

Is that the low centered over East Anglia showing up on the wind chart? Cool site! I'm giving it until 3am, if there is no snow by then, then it won't happen! Fancy a turkey sandwich now! It is really windy out now! :smiliz19:

That is stunning to look at, but this might be better for wind speeds: http://www.xcweather.co.uk/.

Wind has started picking up here too now, and the temperatures are really beginning to drop the the NorthWest.

I did think this at first, but does state in the left hand corner its MPH though.

2 degree Celsius drop here in the last 20 minutes. Not exactly a Chinook wind but still pretty snappy!  Some really strong gusts in the last hour too. May not have the snow here but exciting weather none the less.
