Very chilly 0.5c surprised considering the BBC Weather London forecast went for a low of 1c. No sign of cloud looks like our second air frost coming up. Not too bad being in the heart of London. Edit: -5C observed at Benson a renowned cold spot rivalling with up north, impressive. :)

Wonderful frost tonight under a perfect full moon. It's good to be alive again after a rank week of wind, rain and the dreaded mud. This will be frozen tomorrow so I'm a happy bunny.

Suffolk mud is like no other... It's almost like being snowed in.... you know a trip down to the shop will have the car covered in it and that's £8 for a car wash (I do it myself in summer, but winter's different... Frozen fingers and soaked jeans. Yuk.

There's a beautiful pink tinge to the south-eastern horizon. Looks like it's going to be a gloriously sunny day, if a bit chilly to spend hours at the back end of a routemaster bus.

Thermals, check; two pairs of socks, check; woolly hat, check...

Morning all, beautiful winter's morning here in Reigate :)

Temp at the grammar school currently -0.4c - http://www.weather.rgsinfo.net

Looks like today will be gorgeous- should be good for Father Christmas's helicopter landing in Priory Park this morning!

My sister arrives from Tanzania where she lives today - I think the temperature maybe a shock to her system!

Morning

Glad I am not planning on going out anywhere this morning, significant frost and -1.7oC in the shed outside right now.

Morning all, currently -0.7 C totally put the forecasted minima to shame.

Interesting to see the tumble, then slight warm up, then fall back down.

GFS 6z shows transient white stuff much more further south next weekend in our territory

Around -1C or -2C to start here so a proper air frost. Beautiful clear skies and sunshine here this morning.

Not been outside but looking out the window it is very frosty here, remote sensor in the shed reports a temp of -1.4oC.  Clear and sunny though.

That frost is hanging on and not really going yet, only on the roofs of houses that I suspect have poor insulation is it starting to go.

Still frosty in the shadows - maybe not 2010 yet, but looking good. Yes I'm OTT, but remember autumn 2010 was mild and wet too. I reckon we'll get the goods in Jan-March.

Had to scrape the car at half 11, so definitely a cold day. Still cloudless here. Classic winters day :)

4.9c here in Waltham Abbey / SW Essex. Frost STILL on some shaded rooftops. Temporary warm-up tonight as the rain band clears through then the first of several storms approach on Sunday. Should be an interesting week for snow lovers.

Evening all :hi:

The Bap thread has been closed in today's news after things turned sour, in addition this is my 500th post on NW. To think back I started posting in March as somewhat fresh faced, and now I've been enriched by such fabulous posters like yourselves. Its been volatile but I've enjoyed the experience immensely, I hope this continues and other lurkers come to the surface, and share in the spoils.

Down to 1.7 now and still droping for now. Guess the temps will start rising again soon though.

Dare I ask what the bap thread is?

Well today was very chilly but glorious blue skys... Frost didn't clear from some sheltered spots...

Look at the colour of the sky in the pic - that's Father Christmas arriving in Reigate!

Ok, why is my pic upside down??

Hi you do not know of the legendary BAP thread? All that talk about infamous bap?

I had some trouble and Tamara kindly helped me via PM:

"On your windows gallery there should be a rotate function for you to turn the pics the right way up Then you can download them once again" this snippet may be useful :)
