Loving the fact that it's 'seasonal'!  It needs to be cold to get rid of all the germs.  Wouldn't it be lovely to have a white Christmas (as long as everyone's where they need to be :-), and as long as you keep feeding the birds). I still remember the icicles from 2010, never seen anything like it.  IMHO, winter, should be just that......winter!!!!

Does the cold kill off bugs like flu? It kills slugs, they are pests! (I apologise to all you slug lovers out there!) :ninja: Yes I would love a white Christmas, prefer the snow to start falling at about 11pm Christmas Eve and not stop until 27th December! (Relatives won't be able to make it to my house) :clapping: We had 8 inch long icles hanging from out gutters in 2010! Had to whack them off though, as they were pretty dangerous! I always put food out in my garden for the birds, although I do get some unwanted visitors sometimes, (like the neighbours!)

The wildlife really did suffer in 2010, we cleaned out the garden pond in spring and found almost 20 dead frogs. But it was a memorable winter.

I heard lots of owls died too!

Pretty cold here, but not as cold as 4 years ago! :)

Will it ever be as cold as four years ago again? :unknw:

Strange it feels warmer than yesterday here, temp at the moment is around 7.4 and has been going up slowly all day. I thought this rain we had was a cold front?

Temp yesterday was a steady 5.8 all day and night.

The wind felt cold yesterday but it was 7.8c here!

I noticed that, too, and wondered whether it's because the relative humidity has dropped by about 20%.

I thought it was a London thing at first, but Alexis is a little out of London!

Well today was an achievement, the weather was worse than yesterday

Things can only get worse, the atlantic might throw us a storm next week!

Very icy in the air, I agree.

Face felt sting-y, which I haven't felt for a while.

Felt like I needed ear muffs yesterday!

You go in the MAD thread?

I'm not allowed in there! :nonono:

It is a breezy early morning here but clear!

Morning

Not been outside as such yet, looking out the window I can see it is still cloudy now the right is growing, dry but feeling chilly when putting some food out on the feeder by the back door.

Classic streamer effect off the north sea into Kent and parts of Essex today, if only temperatures were 5 degrees colder I'd be under a good few inches of snow right now!

It's dried up here now, still cloud coming from the east with the sun trying to break through at times.

Edit: Now a mixture of sunny spells and convective looking cloud, temp dropping despite the sunshine from 7.4 to 6.2. The wind from the east has picked up, which is probablt what is dropping the temps. It's very chilly wind.

Better day today, especially so at work where the morning was sunny. Cloudier afternoon as the gunk pushed back in again.

Horrible here today with the Kent streamer which, as Azores Hi pointed out, could have been so much better if it had been cold enough to snow, but just dropped rain on us for hours on end. Temps were stuck at 5-6C for most of the day, now dropping away sharply at 3.8C. Yuk.

That's exactly what I said at work today which was met with a blank look when I realised they don't know what a Thames Streamer is.

Down to 3C here tomorrow according to the forecast :cold:

Been travelling our region today and rather cold and damp, more so as the day wore on.

It's been hovering at around 7°C here since mid-afternoon. I'm expecting that to drop like a stone if the cloud clears.

Only have the online temp to go by and that is at 5oC, very cold out though, if it does freeze after the rain it will be a mare in the morning.

Latest fax for Monday has caught my attention!

the 528 dam line cleared right south - and there's some troughs about.

Threat of something wintery, rain/sleet/snow especially along eastern coasts - first sniff since '13. :D

Back to the solid cloudfest this morning. Hopefully this should be the last day of this for a while as we see the return of Atlantic airstreams.
