The rain is relentless, heavy and persistent the whole day. The wind has dropped slightly though.

Inverclyde was hit hard with the rain overnight. My school was full of leaks from the bottom floor to the top, typical really. ☔☔☔☔

I just checked the Home & Dry weather app.

There's a storm heading towards UK.

That's for Friday next week still a bit away yet but the models have been showing a low pressure system over the UK for the end of next week. The GFS 00z run from last night for Thursday/Friday showed widespread gusts across all of the UK and Ireland ranging from 60 to 70mph but this mornings 06z run has downgraded the low pressure system but still shows very strong gusty winds for Western parts. Something to keep a watch on.

Met Office have issued rain warnings for the S/SW over the next 5 days with some flooding likely giving already saturated ground, going to be worth keeping an eye on I think.

The first batch of rain arrives today continuing through tomorrow giving 50mm, even 75mm locally. Heavy, possibly thundery showers then move in Wednesday before another area of heavy rain moves in Thursday into Friday giving another 25-50mm. Possibility of more significant rain for the weekend as well.

NMM totals by Friday morning, possiblity of 100+mm in spots.

Met Office warning for Monday-Wednesday

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/

An active frontal system associated with an Atlantic depression will push in from the west later on Monday. This front will become slow-moving, allowing pulses of heavy and sometimes thundery rain to spread northwards across south west England and South Wales before finally clearing northeastwards on Wednesday. Precise timings of these periods of heavy rain remain uncertain, and there are also likely to be some drier intervals within this warning period. The strong southerly winds, reaching gale force in places, will enhance rainfall over south-facing slopes and hills, where totals of more than 60mm in 36 hours are likely. 20-40 mm will fall more widely. The rainfall is likely to cause some minor flooding from either surface water or from rivers.

Thursday/Frday

A developing frontal system is expected to push north, then east across many parts of the UK during Thursday and into Friday. Rain is expected to become persistent and heavy at times, particularly over south-facing hills. Many places may well see 20-30 mm during the day, with as much as 50-70 mm over higher ground. With this bout of heavy rain coming after what is expected to be a wet week, localised flooding is a possibility either from surface water or from some rivers.  There is still a large degree of uncertainty regarding the track and timing of this system, so this warning will be updated in the coming days to hone the areas most at risk from significant precipitation totals.

A good spot. NMM has a little feature too giving strong winds to Dublin area.

NMM rainfall totals next 96hrs. :shok: Big trouble if that happens. Most of which comes on Thursday/Friday - probably a significant flood event if happened as shown.

Absolutely blowing a gale! Just got in from work after an interesting drive home dodging debris flying around, anemometer reading gusts towards 70mph!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-30040238  Looks pretty much like the big storms last winter, note the idiot on the push bike, if he fell in people would have to risk their lives to save him, lost his common sense of had it educated away.....I blame the schools.

More storms this year then, never a dull moment.
