Cracking webcam viewing on the Schveningen cam! Decent lightning to throw in for good measure too!

Blimey, if that's for real that is one of the most defined ones I've seen!

Love the comment from the paper; "Yeah, any thinner it would have been cinema complex"... and i must admit i thought that myself... emmm is it or isn't it!!!

But who's to Question weather experts that have looked at the picture http://www.burtonmail.co.uk/TORNADO-Picture-Burton-twister-formed-town/story-23302766-detail/story.html and have agreed that it is very, very likely to be genuine."

Unless things have changed? not much a do unless you're possibly in the far NW and parts of Scotland, where some frontal bands of rain, associated with occasional gusty winds, may well remain in situ. Nothing stormy expected at this stage I do believe.

Elsewhere, temps slightly above normal again and maybe the odd passing shower. Especially nearer windward facing coasts.

people live in Scotland you know ;)

Going to turn very windy over the N half of the country, more especially Scotland with severe gales giving gusts over 60mph later today and into tomorrow. Quite gusty here already this morning.

Strong winds (50+ maybe) with fairly heavy rain, bound to be a few flooding problems later today.

Rainfall totals really mounting up now

@bbcweather

In the 24 hours up to 10am the Met Office says Kinlochewe in Highland was wettest with 74mm (3 inches) of rain. Nick M

The latest radar paints a very wet picture

The ultrasonic AWS at the Summit of Meall a' Bhuiridh at Glencoe Ski Area has recorded 135mm of rain since 4pm yesterday afternoon. 11mm came down between 10 and 11am alone! :o

Been a gust to 92mph at the Summit, but as often is the case some very heavy gusts at the bottom as SW winds funnel round the mountain prior to ripping across the A82 a short distance South of the ski area access road. Peak gust at base only 1mph below the summit at 91mph!

From Bear Scotland - the A82 Trunk Road between Corran Ferry and Fort William and the ferry is currently suspended too, so to put it in perspective to travel the 10 miles between Onich and Fort William currently requires a 160mile diversion!

One of the north’s busiest tourist routes is shut after heavy rain caused a landslide.

The A82 Fort William-Glasgow route has been closed at Corrychurrachan, five miles south of Fort William.

There is also bad flooding on the trunk road at southern outskirts of the town.

Also in Ballachulish, fire crews from Kinlochleven are pumping water off the road in the main village.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
