Atlantic Storms Autumn 2014

Nice windy sunny day here. (some strong (ish) gusts) but nothing to write home about. Northern Scotland very windy.

Wow rain just come down here and the wind started again.

Saw that shower Nitro. Sky was black as the ace of spades. Only passing showers here, some gusty winds too.

Been gusting 65-75mph up here in peak district... Fence panel bowing in hail/ rain showers....went really dark about 1pm huge crack of thunder and hailstones piled up where wind blew them...checked temp was4c...freezing in that wind...might pop a few logs on the fire tonight ☔⚡⛅☀.....

Around 1 it was really kicking, the wind seems to have died down a little, is the wind strength expected to intensify as it makes its way over the North Sea?

Noticeably here at least the stronger of the gusts we've had have been embedded in the shower convection, In the village we're sheltered by a western hill so the 'low' SLWs have mostly missed us, then the shower's piled in during the afternoon with downdrafts and it's suddenly like being in a washing machine for some minutes.

 

Also to note is the speed of the showers passing through, from Southport to Stockport in 30mins.

Its been the same here, showers speeding through all day and when they do, the gusts really ramp up, went out earlier and the roads were littered with twigs and some fairly large branches. 

Also every wheelie bin in the town has been on an adventure of its own!

Some big gusts... And some fierce showers, hitting London. Lots of twigs and leaves even some small branches, scattered about very autumnal.

109mph is the highest wind gust so far on the Cairngorm Mountain, Blackpool has had a gust of 62mph

some really dark shower clouds just gome through with very gusty wind,  looked like it could have been thundery, with that dark greyish/green hue with distinctive rain curtains  ,  not electrical though

GFS didn't cover itself in glory all over the place and even downgraded this morning.

Max gust here 54 mph still gusting low forties. Fairly quiet this morning it was around lunch time it got interesting with heavy showers and temp plunging to 5.8C

Very windy here today, wind gusts of 30 - 40 mph sometimes nearly 50 mph up here today. Not much damage excepts for a few branches down. Nothing too impressive but quite a few trees now looking more autumnal.

Went crazy here in Dijon this afternoon...thunder and lightning and gusty winds. Right in the middle of my class! Still a mild day with a max of 19 though.
