Wind has really picked up in the last 10mins, missed the sound of rain lashing against the window... :bomb:

Wind has picked up here in the past half hour, one of the bins outside which one of the neighbours didn't bother putting away over the weekend has blown down the street now.

A fellow Inverclydian!! (if that's even a thing), thought I was alone in this neighbourhood.

Definitely going to have a trip to Hunstanton tomorrow evening maybe!

I remember seeing a programme about 1953, and a theory was that strong SW winds like were getting now would effectively pile the water up against Norway and Denmark etc, and then on the back edge of the low, slosh back towards the UK and  the Low countries, like what happens in a bath. This is actually putting that theory to the test, even more so than 5th December last year. Couple it up with the swell that will take place, I honestly think this is being underestimated somewhat.

We shall see anyway. In the meantime, stay safe everyone!

I'm a jealous person when it comes to the weather too, hate when people get what you want!!

Lets hope there's a bigger and better storm to come for all of us to enjoy!

Btw, what's the chances of a sting jet thingy?? Not heard anything about one (or more).

Unlikely in this storm bud. You'd need rapid cyclogenesis with an intrusion of dry air. It shows up nicely on a sat image, or on a fax chart as a back bent occlusion. They normally show up on fax charts quite late, so sat images are the best way to see if they occur.

You never know though! It has 'Sting' in it's name for a reason. They're not really forecasted as such.. Conditions can be forecasted to allow one to develop, but to my knowledge, a sting jet usually gets recognised at the last moment or after it has occurred.

I don't think we'll get the strongest winds till Tuesday afternoon.

Rain has turned very heavy in the last few mins. It's certainly wild out there this morning!
