Just look at that cell over Wiltshire. I really do hope it continues to move directly eastwards, looks like a corker!

Ohhh I like the look of that storm to my SE...I think it may run just that tad too far North of here and it would need to keep its energy.

Fingers crossed!

It is moving ENE but it is also building to the south so you may catch it. new cell to the south has exploded rapidly and electrically fairly active already. Was producing strikes before any rain

The storms are moving northwestwards not eastwards at all. Next in line is likely to be somewhere between Gloucester and Bristol.

Fingers crossed! Looks like any developments tonight could be very quick.

Apologies, you're absolutely right, I meant westwards not eastwards. I think the southerly expansion to the cell is giving it a more westerly-moving appearance even though it's tracking northwestwards.

Are we likely to see further developments overnight or will they fizzle out in a hour or 2 seems like its a very hard one to call.

Plenty of Towering Cu developed over the last two hours in Oxford. Impressive cloud structure to the SW over Wiltshire. Looks a massive Cell from radar returns.

Directly towards me! But lightning activity seems to be fading gradually on radars?

Wow we all better enjoy this, looks to turn distinctly cooler by the end of the weekend and into next week. Skew-t not forecasting anything for Norwich for the weekend but will keep a close eye on it.

Rumblings and lightning just now over head, making the lights dim. Long rumblings

I do apologise they are indeed moving WNW not ENE

First cell passed just to the south of here after popping up over Warminster. Very electrically active with CG's within 1/2 mile of here. Currently under a second cell that is part of a line producing CC's and quite high up as well.

Well, it shouldn't be long that I and others from S Wales Valleys can see the flashes. ~ Perfect night storm!
It's one of those nights, that these storms could survive the night!

Torrential echoes showing up suddenly just South of Cardiff

Wow what an hour that was! Some very close CGs (at least 5) with shotgun thunder from 2 or 3 separate cells within what was a rapidly developing storm cluster with other frequent lightning/thunder of differing colours/types (view NW radar zoomed to BA12 to see the development from 18.40).

8mm in my gauge from around 10 mins of monsoon rain after only the same amount had fallen in the previous 23 days!

Amusingly it had gone very dark just after 18.30 and I thought something must go bang and it did soon after!

5 weeks without thundery activity and now something to rival the July awesomeness! It had been 25.0c with 80%+ humidity at 17.00!

I do get the feeling they could grow on and off all night tonight, wind has picked up, its still 20c outside if my weather station is correct! Good luck everyone!

You know the drill Chris!

Witnessed some awesome cloud to grounds from here about half an hour ago, but was on the phone so couldn't video it.

Indeed...hopefully we may catch something tomorrow...we'll see. Looks a tad more promising but still rather hit and miss.

It always spooks me a bit in a hotel when the lights start flickering, I have a wind up torch (of course) which is well wound up but it's still spooky...and I'm supposed to be the rational psychologist among us! Brrrrr...
