This is not good for the game, its knock on effect will be felt throughout Europe and have impacts even at lower levels in the game. We are not that far away from seeing our 1st £1 million pound player in non league football here in the UK.

I think female football will start to benefit greatly from all this, as a affordable option to the mans game. On that note i hope they look at reducing the female pitch by @10% in size, a mans pitch is just slightly too big for the average female player, and it effects the game quality...

And the goals too. Not one of the goalkeepers in the England squad is more than 6 ft tall!

The quality of the women's game is poor, no amount of passion will change that.

Depends what you mean by poor? There are quite a few talented female players with the ball at their feet, however positionally the female game is pretty dire, but I think that has a lot to do with the space on the pitch just being too much for them to cover.

The game will progress, and its not the 1st time we have been here, after the 1st world war the female game was as popular if not more so then the male game, the FA soon put a stop to that..

How a man who has been banned for dopping not once but twice can even be in the stadium to have a chance of winning a major athletics championship is beyond me...what sort of message are we sending to the next generation of Athletes?

What an unusual situation.  Glad he has made it through.
Not easy in the wet and with no-one else around.
And then he did some press-ups at the end just to show us how fit and well he feels !

Incredible result for our team, but awful to see Bolt in pain after his final race.

It is hard how to feel. It is awful for Bolt but team GB pulled out the perfect race to win that, in fact they had that won by the final chageover and not even Bolt could not have pulled that gap back.

Fantastic achievement by both British 4 X 100m relay teams.

Sad ending for Bolt but it looks like it was just one too many championships  and probably the same for Mo Farah, just one too may races.

Frustrating that Bolt wasn't beaten for gold by a young pretender at 100m, instead someone older who's career is tainted.

The BBC coverage of the USPGA has been atrocious. Not advertised, hidden away on the red button in crappy standard definition, and tired old commentary. If you are going to pay a lot of money for something, then at least do it some justice.

Peter Alliss keeps getting Kevin Kisner mixed up with Justin Thomas. I suppose it's because he doesn't know who either of them are.

And Maureen just observed that Matsuyama would've heard the roars across the course from Thomas's birdie. Undoubtedly, as he's playing with him on the same bloody green.

It was very unfortunate that the event was the same time as the World Athletics Championships, which has the typical excellent coverage, (anyone remember the Channel 4 coverage of a few years back). At least the end of the final round was live in HD on BBC2. They also didn't pay that much for the coverage at all, they picked it up for next to nothing after negotiations between Sky and the PGA tour broke down.

Personally nice to see golf on terrestrial TV, even if it was commented on from Salford.
