It's now starting to cool down to jumper weather, and wind is picking up a bit more. If I wasn't comparing to last year I would think it was quite strong now.

Have just donned a fleece now, feel this may become another curl up on the sofa evening, combination of weather and this cold I have.

Number of flood warnings have been issued down the EA coast now.

Thought there would be.

There was always going to be flood warnings, esp the east coast as high tide and the storm system combine.

Just had a short sharp shower here, temps taken a bit of a tumble in the last hour or so too, 8.8oC now from 12oC not that long ago.

Mixed day bright warmish sunshine then almost horizontal rain… and boy is that wind cold now. I needed gloves. Just hope there's no powercuts, but heard on the news a woman has been killed in Central London. Which surprised me — yes I know there are more people around, but thought trees in London were fairly well-maintained. Unless their roots have been disturbed by road works and telecoms digging.

Poor lady.

It's been an okay day here today. The ground was wet when I awoke this morning. The school run was dry, bright, cool and breezy. I noticed during my lunch break though how much the wind had picked up. Stayed dry pretty much all day...... Then come 5 o clock we had a mega squall, really great to watch, which lasted 15 mins or so.

Still windy and cool now. Hope you all stayed out of harms way, and none of your property was damaged....

Interesting day in Essex for a change, massively overhyped as these events always are but the first real wintry feeling day we've had with some good quality showers.

Quite a fair strong gusts driving back from Brighton this afternoon, but we definitely saw worse last year. Good strong gusts around 3.30 to 4pm as I had to retrieve my neighbours bin several times (she is 92) and I got pushed along by the wind. Haven't a clue where my green recycling bag for plastics and cans are though......nowhere to be seen - someone's lucky day!

Missed most of the bad weather here, not many showers, was windy, but just a typical autumn day really! No bin issues! The wind is icy now!

Repeat of last winter probably! :(

Far to early for that. Although many people start putting their winter forecasts out very soon. One point to make..... Winter 2010 wasn't on to many radars and we all know what happened.

I just pray for not another repeat of last winter. Firstly it caused flooding and damage, and secondly I saw NO snow, not even sleet....

Sleet is unacceptable! Can't build a sleet man or throw a sleet ball! :nonono: 9.3c

Leigh, I do hope that's not another repeat, rather than now another repeat. We don't need any more flooding.

Oops, didn't spot you'd already edited it. Sorry!

Sunshine and showers today, quite an epic rainbow observed from where I work which was nice. There was some branches down on the road home too.

Winter forecast? I gave a punt about 10 days ago on the winter thread. But will give hopefully a full detailed forecast at the start of November :)
