NW is saying temps of 14-16C this weekend but feels like of 27C, surely that cannot be right?

Afternoon.

After a damp start the sun popped out for a short while, did not last and the cloud returned, been spotting of rain in the last hour, nothing much, but know more rain is on the way.  Not feeling as cool either, thanks in part to the calmer conditions than anything.

It's going to be very humid, so it's perhaps not beyond the realms of possibility.

A pretty grey day overall. It then rained later during the afternoon. Hopefully there will be some decent convection tomorrow.

Good to see JP back posting and also appreciated all the posts by Captain Shortwave over the last few months.

80sWeather mentioned the great storm of 1987. I had a golf match planned that day in Hertfordshire so got up at around 5am and tried to drive out of our road. Still dark so was told not to turn left down the road as blocked. Too true as about 11 huge trees had fallen across our suburban road and later TV crews arrived to film it. As all golfers are completely mad I actually drove to Hertfordshire only to be told the course was closed ( no surprise there) so went to a friends course near Enfield. Still blowing a gale I hit the ball miles but it was all a joke as impossible to play in the strong wind. Looking back I should have noticed vans blown on their sides and local councils workers clearing roads of fallen trees on the way to Hertfordshire! Totally ludicrous and dangerous looking back but when you have to get somewhere to play your sport you get there no matter what. Older and wiser now so would never drive in a storm like that again.......well......perhaps....!

Weatherise here it's dark and damp with the odd shower.

Morning. Dry here at the moment albeit with a lot of cloud. There was a fair bit of rain overnight though.

Forecasts today suggest a drying up set up with increasing amounts of sunshine. Given the warm source of air then temperatures will be pretty decent today with a high in the mid to high teens.

The Daily Express has just ruined another winter! :nonono:

http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/520672/Winter-weather-2014-UK-forecast-cold-snow-November. They have even quoted Net Weather and Simon Keeling! :shok: Although they both say only slightly colder than average, this is why James Madden gets the lion's share of the air time in this article because he is going for his usual coldest winter for 100 years nonsense which still sells newspapers apparently! :cc_confused:

Sunny and warm here! 18c

It's going to be very humid, so it's perhaps not beyond the realms of possibility.

Does that mean more chance of T-Storms?

Sun out here in Chelmsford and very pleasant after a dull start. Looking forward to the possibility of some T & L this evening/ overnight.

80's Weather mentioned the 27th Anniversary of the Great Storm. That certainly brought back a lot of memories for me also. At the time I was working in the Building Surveyors Section of the Architects Department of Essex County Council, and walked the two mile journey to my office as a lot of the local roads were blocked by fallen trees. On my arrival I found that I was the only one in my section as all the others lived further afield and the surveyors had been called by properties from home to assess damage/arrange for repairs to be undertaken. I was left with the formidable task of fielding calls from properties and contacting surveyors/our area offices and contractors to deal with an unprecedented demand on resources.

At the time Essex County Council was responsible for a great many more properties than now. In those days, all police and fire brigade properties, colleges and Thurrock and Southend premises were ECC controlled and there was little or no devolved power to schools.

There was an awful lot of damage to many of the properties with a school in Chelmsford and another in Harlow losing their roofs.

A year later and all the works had been completed and invoices received I had to assist in the compilation of a committee report and if memory serves me right the total cost was in the region of £23M, which was an awful lot of money in those days.

Kind Regards

Dave

Afternoon

A warmer and drier day here too (surprise that eh? :) ) even have had some sun sightings, looking at the forecast the warm trend looks set to continue, shame there is a wet trend in the mix also, still it is the weekend, i'm not working this one either so hope to get some good downtime in there somewhere.

Oh and mention of the great storm of '87 being all them years ago, does make you feel old, was working by that time (only just mind).

Well certainly mild out, no need for the coat again, took a walk to the shops and had a chat with some peeps in town, the cloud lifted and left a good red sky for a while, thought it would come on to rain an hour earlier, as it turned out that was not the case and very nice evening now.

Just saw a flash of  lighting and now, having checked the radar, there seems to be a rather large rainy bit incoming. Much happening in West Sussex yet?
