Lots of heavy bursts within this rainband, more so than the radar shows. 3mm/hr one minute, 30mm/hr the next!

First band just cleared here. The wind has only just started kicking in now. Also just saw a flash, came from over the channel.

A Vortmax lobe of PVA is heightening rainfall rates as it moves in to the SE. Some cracking downpours to come for some of you.. :)

Wonder if there will be thunder in  London? :unknw:

May be, it depends what this band does as it moves up to you, it's only given one flash and rumble here so far.

Morning all. I am back after a lovely summer although poor August lovely September.

Interesting start to Autumn propper. So the wet smelly trains with south eastern return. Interesting that really is a monster low driving the weather over the next few days. No thoughts yet for me on winter. I did think that it felt a little like 2010. End of Sept beginning Oct we need late October heat for me to be convinced. Feeling is could be eitgrr a record breaking wet winter or cold outbreaks but not sustained. Not sure at this moment btw this has no scientific proof just hunches and watching the strat thread and listening to experienced posters as opposed to the hyperbole of will it won't it snow

Rain rate is finally dropping now, and going by the radar it seems to be the end of the heavy stuff for me :)

Just in time as I've been waiting to go to the shops since 7:30am lol

Temp: 14.2c

Rainfall accumulation since midnight: 30.6mm

Nah, only a snap, and of warmth not heat  :clapping:

London may see 21c by Sunday, although that's likely to change before we arrive lol

Still drizzling here in Chelmsford. The road leading to our culdesac has flooded due to run off from the school playing field.

it used to happen perhaps once a year, but since August we have witnessed it on four separate occasions, a sign of the number of heavy rainfall events we have witnessed over this period.

Kind regards

Dave

Afternoon

Wet and windy still here, looks set for the rest of the evening, just as well I am not planning on going anywhere then.  Feeling cool out still with the mix of the strong winds and dampness (and lack of any sunshine).

It does look like a couple of days warm weather for the weekend, then back to cooler again for the following week, have found that temps have been a degree or two less than forecast in recent weeks so I expect a few hours where temps peak in the high teens over the weekend but then back to seasonal soon after.
