Nice bright and cool start today. What an improvement from yesterday.

Wind really picked up since this morning. Just had a very lively shower.

Yes, we've had thunder on and off for a few hours now, with each cluster of showers.  very, very windy too.

Some electrical activity about 30 minutes ago, with growling dark skies and lots of rain. Eased up and and the Sun is breaking through :good: April showers sort of day...

Just been getting some pokey showers here, over very quickly though, no T&L that I have been aware of and sun making a return now, very breezy and feeling cooler out in that breeze, shed sensor is reporting 13.3oC at present.

Wow, ranging here from nice and sunny to sudden wind and rain with a bit of hail and thunder mixed in! Rinse and repeat. All lovely up until the point I stood outside school in it, the hail pounding us. Despite a big brolly came home drenched where it blew in sideways at us.

3rd or 4th storm of the afternoon rumbling past, difficult to tell how many storm cells exactly as there seems to be a continuous conveyor over SE London, some occasionaly quite close c-g lightning strikes too, which is putting my 3 yr old son on edge!

Yes Nick, had the same here in Croydon. These cells no doubt accentuated by lift over the N.Downs. Thunder mainly the deep growling variety, apart from one almighty clap, no doubt the same one you reported on from S.Norwood, in the Storm & Convective thread.

Outside gloom now lifting, to reveal brighter skies, in the last 10 minutes or so.

Regards,

Tom.

Monsoon type rain here at the moment. Very dark skies, but no T&L as of yet...

I was going to take a walk into town this afternoon but the dark skies put me off, may try that trip another day instead.

Had some heavy showers late morning, otherwise a reasonable day, if a little cool.

Rain eventually stopped here around 6pm. Light breeze and partly cloudy skies now. Off to centre parcs tomorrow for the a 4 day birthday treat for my 7 to be year old son. So hopefully the weather stays dry.

Six fire crews are currently tackling a fire in a block of flats in Hailsham after it was struck by lightning earlier this evening

Feel fortunate to have avoided all the storms today!

Not near enough to affect my parents, then, thankfully, if selfishly.

Thanks

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
