A few rumbles around again now.

The radar is showning the excitement ~10 miles to the SW, but everything I can hear is a few miles NE.

Missed out on all the storms so far, bar a few distant rumbles here and there. Seems there has been activity not far north, south, east and west of here but I am stuck in the middle with some light rain. Oh well!

A nice heavy prolonged shower just passed. I'd nearly forgotten what it looked like!

So much for 'warm & thundery today' , absolutely vile day, thick mist all day, poor visibility, dark, non stop drizzle and a max of 16.4c

today dominated by sea fret, expect same tomorrow, until changes from the north on sunday

Cloudzilla stratocumulus mania from North East Sunday, sun never arrives till back in work Monday

Thick mist, 150 meter visibility again now, hovered at 16c for the past 12 hours now.

repost of mine from the convective thread as the relevance is for this region.....

a quick heads up for central southern regions.....on the Points West forecast, Ian Fergusson (fergieweather) has alluded to the chance of thunderstorms developing over the next few hours in the west country & south Midlands tracking eastwards on or near the M4 corridor........nothing showing up currently on radar as such, but according to his forecast it's in the next hour or to that things may start to happen

Looks like that's it on the weather 'front' for the rest of this month. At least Thursday night's thunderstorms have prevented this month from being a write off. Dull and grey again today.

Light rain just to the east for several hours yesterday, more approaching from the NW this morning bet it fizzles out?

Certainly counts as an eventful month IMHO a month with no rain, mean max 21.0c almost unheard of here in the Autumn :)

Overcast, low cloud, drizzle... Wish the front coming down from the North West would just get a move on

Charts trending towards a warm, sunny weekend next weekend hopefully at long last!!!!

Another sunless day today, max of 17.6c, major improvements after tomorrow as wind finally shifts, perhaps 1-3c in rural spots tomorrow night.

Edit: Heavy shower now randomly, not much on radar so bit of a surprise.

Anticyclonic gloom doesn't float my boat I'm afraid. I much preferred last September which was a lot more mobile and varied. I can't actually remember the last time I saw truly blue sky.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
