Very blustery at the moment, but still in a dry slot. Got the dog walked in any case before the next batch of rain arrives.

Well that was a very wet night, particularly between 03.00-04.00 with some torrential bursts of rain on what I can only assume was a squall line within the main band - certainly looks like it on the radar.

Since first thing it's been a largely fine morning (if very windy) until the last hour when some showery rain has moved through.

Few pics from sunny ole Westonbirt today...

Beautiful photos Zephyr thanks for sharing them, lovely examples of what is widespread striking colour this Autumn.

Well you know when the part-timers are back in (that would be me then) it must mean there are plenty of eyebrow twitching going on over at the MO. Hope all had a good summer and autumn and we can all get down to chasing the white stuff   :gathering:

Hi guys,

Lashed it down this pm.

Total of 13.5mmms

cloud clearing rapidly from the west with the rain just ceasing.

Two really striking things: the abrupt clearance line with setting sun underneath it it creating a really weird yellow light.

The temperature has dropped to 6.5C from 10.7C before the rain at 13:00.

MIA

Showers decided to give us a miss today.  Just a short lived and fairly light one around half two which produced a very strong rainbow which lasted best part of ten minutes.

Only moderate showers between the system clearance and sundown but since then some vicious torrential downpours. Just drove back from Bristol through rain that came through like straight lines and the roads were partially flooded out the other side of it. Dramatic stuff for sure - not the night for anything outdoors.

35.2 mm of rain in the last 24 hours but split over two 'rainfall days'

I still haven't recorded a single rainfall day ( 0900-0900 ) with 25.4 mm ( 1" ) or more this year. The last year which failed to record at least one 25.4 mm fall was 1988; still there's 7 weeks to go this year yet, with December the wettest month of the year on average, so still in with a chance.

Nice catch! Which road is that on? I somehow missed that despite keeping an eye on what's going on out the window.

Thanks, it was on brinsea road heading into Congresbury from Churchill, to be fair I only saw two cc flashes, the wind gusts and rain was the best feature but that was because of the lack of lighting lol! :-)

Ah nice. Can confirm I've seen one and got it on phone video in the same direction since then. Yes driving through that torrential rain was really quite something!

Not for much longer, Mapantz!  We've had 5.1mm in the last hour, most of it in the last 20 minutes and it's heading your way.
