A cool feel but not too bad here really, mostly sunny and 17.4c. Tonight looks chilly.. Even the Met Office are forecasting 6c nearby and we're usually a couple degrees cooler.

Yep nice to see some perspective, its not bad at all and not terrible like some doom mongerers were saying, temps staying up nicely at night too in built up areas, so not sure why anyone would moan its too cold, only rurally is it getting cold at night, there is a massive difference between towns and countryside at night in the summer.

Very much depends on location though, it's all well and good saying you don't understand how people can complain when your sat in sunshine sheltered from Cheshire Gap NW's but by comparison there's been 14 days of measurable rain already this month here, the 8th day running of sub 18c maxes, showers almost daily through Cheshire Gap for the past week, very little sunshine and a persistent howling breeze.

Very sunny here again today but stupidly cold. Fine if your out working in it but I expect much better for here.

Temperature in the house has gone below 20c for the first time in ages. Approaching central heating territory, definitely jumper time.

Currently 15.8c after a min of 7.2c overnight. Some hefty showers since morning.

Autumn certainly feels near.

It felt ok in Bangor town this afternoon with the sunshine although I expect temperatures no higher than 16c. Very cool higher up here at Rhiwlas with the heating put on by the people here

8.4c here according to the Davis on the roof mast, probably around 8.1c in the screen. As Tony says above, decidedly cool for an August evening.

Down to 9.3C now. The last cold August morning here was 31st Aug 2012 when it went down to 6C, I remember the chill walking to the train station that morning. I wonder if it will get that low tonight.

Quite remarkable how even more awful it seems up there. Clear distinction between you lot in the Northern Midlands and the more southern half here. We actually enjoyed some very sunny skies with very few clouds at times. If it wasnt for that nasty northerly, it would have felt OK.

A min of 3.4c here... and a genuine touch of frost visible on a flat felt type garage roof opposite us. Gone now as the sun comes up and some cloud moves in.

I have recorded colder in August once, on the 30th in 2010 at 3.0c when the same happened.

4c here in Colyton this morning. We are sheltered here so def a frost hollow effect. Still noteworthy for Mid-Aug!

Yes same here being in the Otter Valley. The only month I've not seen visible ground frost here before is July.

Might fire up the log burner tonight if clear! What a change from 2/3 weeks ago when couldn't sleep because of the heat. Edited by Barbel
