People cannot seriously have their heating on, surely? I know it's rainy but it's perfectly mild.

Depends where you are I guess, up here there have been a couple of chilly nights this week, so can see why some may need a bit of warmth.

No heating on here, though it did feel a tad chilly in my bedroom this morning as I got out of bed with no clothes on..

I left a small bedroom window open.

No heating, as our house seems to stay warm. The only thing i do is close the patio door because the mornings have been a bit chilly.

feel for me please when it does reach the 30's. It gets cool around 4am, and that is still around 23 in the house.

I just chuck a jumper or a blanket on on a chilly night. Don't see the point of heating unless it's consistently cold.

Same here. This house seems to hold the heat remarkably well. Which is a nightmare when it's hot.

Nope not needed only the last few days have I had to bring the bedroom windows too overnight. Shouldn't be needed until end of September at the earliest.

Much cheaper to put that pullover on and more sensible.

We're still struggling to get the temperature below 22-23C in the house. We have very good insulation so even in winter 2hrs usually keeps it at 19-20C all day.

Unless its significantly below average I doubt we'll need it before October.

I do find these type of threads a bit subjective - we're all different.

However...

Myself, even when a young and skinny lad, who did his paper round in zero degree temperatures (in a t-shirt, to show off tbh) and who still, in his mid to late forties, would be in the lowest 5% of people who suffers with cold, would like to see the cold weather 'heroes' on this site, aged to octogenarian status and see how they would cope?

Myself, I think these people are laughable - I know how elderly people really suffer with the cold. :(

Well you would move to the frozen north. Down in these parts we still need the air con. in winter. Good to see you are thinking of me Steve. :)

I don't understand the point of this post? I don't think anyone was championing themselves as a cold weather "hero".

Are you on the neighbourhood watch committee by any chance? ;) I have my jumbo 20ft turbo fan going. Despite the cool day today, the house is still hot from the recent humid weather. I'm hoping not to need my heating until October. The gas fire needs servicing and might explode if needed before the gas dude turns up.

Did not think the post was either, it was just making a personal point on the matter.

I work in an orifice with AC and windows yet I have to obey the heat/cold/light as they see fit not myself (yes it rankles much)

Why I miss having my own office and work in a shared/open one now.

Basically individuals will whack up/down the AC/Heat as they see fit rather than what everyone else wants and the vampires close the blinds as soon as it is daylight (even on a cloudy and dull day).  Hence the phrase.

I've just never heard a workplace be referred to as an orifice before!

Nope, not cold enough here.Only 14-15c each day so it'll take a big temperature drop for the heating to go on.
