Heating on quite a few times this 'summer'.... Had logs delivered for winter/autumn yesterday... All 15ft l by 6ft h x2 depth of it piled up in woodshed... Looking forward to first lighting of wood burner.... Have lounge lit by only tv and 24 candles looks nice when its so blooming gloomy out....

At least ive still got a bit of a tan from spain, not going to look pasty until at least next month...

Doors and windows wide open here. It's a comfortable 19C out at the moment so no need whatsoever for heating.

Heating on?!

This thread is here and active right now for a joke.......right? Please tell me it's a wind-up.

Heating will go on in our house in November probably and then only for hour in morning and a couple of hours in evening to take the chill off.

October maybe...if it's a cold one.

Same! It's great having the windows open on evenings like this, get the house nice, cool and refreshing for bed time :)

Well, I say cool, it's 19c here too, perfect!

Now had it on since maybe late Feb or early March. Might go on in Oct or November.

Doors 'n windows all open but then not a fair test as I ain't in England and live on the top floor of a very warm building. I actually forget what its like to be cold now...

Our local pub has lit the fire!!

It's not really the 15.c here that's the issue...it's the rain that's come with it, leaving a damp chill in the air.

You're joking...? I'd go to another pub!

Im sat in the old wooden conservatory with the doors and windows wide open listening to the wind and rain.

Easy to see where the myth of the 'Southern Softy' came from, eh? What a bunch of wusses! :D

There may actually be as many 'Northern softies' as 'Southern softies':

I'm a Mancunian. We don't feel the cold...but we feel the damp.

It does sound ridiculous granted and while we gave the heater a 10 minutes boost (we don't have central heating, only a wall heater) I do suspect the pub is now absolutely roasting!

Sure  :D. My grandad used to say something like 'you can put layers on to keep the cold out but the damp is the devil and you've got to smoke it out' or wtte.

I don't know if it's psychosomatic, but if it's damp I'll put the heater on...if it gets to minus 10, I'll go outside to 'enjoy' it! (not that it happens very often in Bucks!)

It's pouring down and 15.c and it's been like this for hours.

It's 15.9c here and hissing down, humidity is 96% which I guess makes all the difference between :cold: and...............doesn't seem to be a hot smiley :help:
