Nice line of developing thunderstorms pushing out of Oxfordshire and heading NE towards MK area. Look very active lightning wise on the real time plotter. Almost constant ticks.  :yahoo:

Keep an eye on the section tot he southwest of us. You never know,

Yes it's showing signs of intensifying on the last radar loop.

Fingers crossed!

Looks like its getting going nicely around Gainsborough

it really is damp squib here as expected, just some typical moderate rain earlier, and some leaves rustling,

unless it all kicks off later,  (unlikely much will happen)

very still now , no rain and just plain old overcast,

Storm action has really ramped up heading towards MK. Sadly, I think we will miss out.

Storms are moving at some serious speed today, looking at that cape chart, anyone in the east is in for a treat

Heads up in Peterborough, storm intensifying fast and will clobber that area! Wish i was there, possible super cell?

If i was out chasing i would head to NW East Anglia somewhere in a triangle from Ely, Norwich and Boston, plenty of energy available around there

Not looking good energy dying away behind the front sun trying to get out.

1-2.5CM hailstones just fell in MK, now have constant thunder rolling across the sky from north to south. Got a video which I'll post later of the large hail.

yay here comes the storm, 2 claps of thunder, really odd colour to the sky, chucking out hail.

And guess what? It knocked out sky again. :yahoo:

My sky went off for a good 5 minutes just now... Despite it not raining here or anything!

Keep losing Sky signal here, can only presume it's from the intensity of the rain in certain areas!!

I really wish I was living further east right now, some serious storms look to be going on over there in a line all the way from Lincoln to the south coast. I would be interested to know if any of these storms are showing signs of tornadic activity considering the risks highlighted by the charts of tornadoes.

Although still the risk of post frontal thunderstorms for western areas this afternoon/evening, the real juicy air is now to the east and the risk of severe storms currently in the east will exit into the North Sea over the next couple of hours. It's game over for severe storms here in Derby, but certainly not for a storm, albeit nothing in comparison to those further east at present. Already a small storm near the Wirral in the post frontal airmass.

Compare rain radar and lightning, distinct organised line has developed....Can an experienced netweatherer explain what is happening here please??

in a very short nut shell: warm air from bertha, meets cold air moving east wards, also running into an area of high cape and negative li, recipe for storms, they will likely continue to intensify as they move east out into the north sea

can confirm the "swindon supercell" was certainly rotating as it passed over here. Flat, rock solid, low cloud base with some striations visible in the updraft region. Constant grumbling thunder.

Was a goodun:)
