Strange. Some cumulus cloud is moving 90 degrees from alto cumulus above it. Bit eerie.

Could it get strong enough for organised rotation.

Rapid intensification north of Sheffield going into Barnsley. That's where all this thunder is coming from. Looks fun up that way! The thunder is near constant :D

A bit unlucky to miss it here tbh!

Definite intensification on that cell near Barnsley. The cells are going up very quick when they do, unfortunately all to the north of here.

Like a bomb has gone off! Barnsley getting hammered :D No one allowed to complain from there now, the amount of thunder I've heard to the north!

Some more development south of there too, heading close to Matlock - hoping for similar intensification :)

There's another cell exploded into life around Belper. Lots of thunder still out to the west here.

Cell just to your west looking very good strike wise

Thunder now heard from South and NW

Strikes detected to my south, perhaps just too far east for me but a good sign.

Heavy rain, frequent thunder however not so much lightening.

eastern areas of Barnsley will have done spectacularly well out of this, Cudworth, Grimethorpe , Darfield etc.

Yes heard near constant thunder for a good while. Not seen any lightning though despite a quick drive just now to give myself a good view to the northwest. Looks good to the south, but it's eerily quiet now!

Huge hunk of rain moving up NEwards into the central south from the sea. Wondering if that will turn electrical when it gets to land?

Yes I was just wondering that. It's a fairly large area of precipitation but so far there hasn't been much mention of it

for those with netweather radar, there are two cells that have my interest....one near Sleaford, and especially the one just to the west of Loughborough, very interesting radar signatures.....

Cell to the west of Loughborough is heading my way but looks to be dying. Certainly gone very dark here though.

yep, looks like the updraft has died in that one....the sleaford one looks very interesting again, signs of a hook

looks quite organized with decent ppn fan downwind indicative of separated updraft/downdraft

The cell to the south has died electrically but the rainfall is torrential :)

Plenty more cells to the south of that though, in a nice train.

Well that was epic in terms of rainfall. Pleanty of thunder but no lightning.
