Why oh why did that band of rain turn really stormy further up?

I think i had enough rain to fill a gnat's cup.

Evening all!

First post for me, am a long time lurker on this forum and finally decided to sign up :) Looking forward to posting more in future.

I thought best to post here as I've somehow managed to go through the whole of 2015 without any thunderstorm whatsoever (we live in Kingsbridge). There have been a few storms that have passed near to Plymouth over the past few months, but they produced very, very faint distant rumbles. Nothing more than that.

Funny how it all works out, obviously some people on here have had some epic storms this year. Still plenty of time for one to turn up this year, but the clock is counting! :D

Expecting another rubbish year - please refer to my 2016 THUNDER BUST & LET DOWN blog for details of all the inevitable let-downs, busts and frustrating days that lie ahead over the next 5~6 months. Sorry, can't see how to do a link to the appropriate page. I expect this blog to become very long. lol.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
