Just saw lightning to the North. Perhaps the stuff that's gone off around Chesham. Urgh, why do I care? Nearly 5am and I'm still up.

Thunderstorms... nature's caffeine!

My posting restrictions have left me lurking all night but i took your lead a 3ish and went out for a look-see and could see distant strikes to my south. A good hour and a half of entertainment but sadly only 1 shotgun ( over hebden) with the rest off to the SW and then west. Nature would not keep me up for the next round ( couple of hours? maybe 3?) so have resorted to espresso's!

Thanks for the heads up earlier Scott, had been relying on th realtime lightning page but it misses so many strikes???

Got a bit of Thunder & Lightning about 15 minutes ago, but now die off. The rain is starting to pick up. Think the Thunder & Lightning we had was the advance warning of the main storm.

I think our storms came from the first Bristol swathe so that look promising for later? The rain hasn't really 'freshened' things up that much and the sun is now on the way up ( huzzah! Visible sat images!!!) so let's see what some early heating does for things?

The storm in Birmingham is more potent than earlier and rain is heavier but it is not as impressive in terms of lightning as last night. But I'd say there is more thunder heard.

Sorry but after a day of intense heat and cape values like we saw HOW IS IT POSSIBLE we get just a downpour of rain? How is that possible?

Nothing electrical at all.

Nothing.

How?

H o w ?

This is an actual joke. I'm sick to the back teeth of the UK weather now - it's not even funny. Just a waste of time.

I'm not interested in UK damp squib weather non-events anymore. I've got far more important things I should be doing than chasing rain around in Surrey for the rest of my days.

Total waste of time.

Ah okay now even the rain has stopped.

Maybe all the weather will now stop altogether.

Oh actually what would be really good is if any storms can wait 5 hours til I head out west later as I have to do then pummel the central south.

That want be annoying in the slightest...

Stupid pointless weather system.

It began here with 'war of the worlds' type lightning. A few cg's to begin with some withput thunder. Certainly feels like my younger days when this would happen at least a couple of times every year. Its been a while.
