Going dark already to the south far too early surely.

This forecast has been totally wrong hasn't it?

Hardly, a big storm like this is near impossible to predict, also they did say many areas would remain free of storms.

Yeah it's moving very very slowly north I got a feeling this wouldn't survive the crossing anyway

You never know, the stuff out uttoxeter way might just get a mind of it's own and rival the cell next to it, not looking too hopeful though. Worst of today's weather so far for me being 20 miles to the SSE.

There's still time to play for, but these haven't been as widespread as I thought they would be today, was expecting more clumps of large storms moving north, rather than convective MCS' with edges that are thundery.

Absolutely explosive here now, tower has gone up within 10-15 mins and its producing loads of rumbles to the ENE!!

Almost continuous low rumbling thunder to the south and moderate rain has just started. It looks as though the cell near Derby will head to the east of me but I'm more hopeful about the other one a little to the west.

Not all bad. At least I got to see some night time flashes. They were not that close but very bright
