I'm considering driving down towards Bournemouth to catch a storm as there seems to be little headed this way. Any thoughts or would I be wasting my time?

I'd just stay where you are until something significant developes

All day so far, the excitement has been skimming past devizes :-(post-22502-0-16146500-1405771213_thumb.j

Quite a sharp line of torrential rain now forming south of Chesterfield down to Northampton, backbuilding and intensifying considerably over the last hour. Sferics soon there?

edit, already are! :D

I wonder what the number of storms will be I have had by the time the 19th is over.Currently at 4!

So typical of storms, some get several whilst the rest of us get a big fat zero, you will probably have more to come ; ) lol

I wonder if it'll brighten up when this present band of rain pushed through. Bit of warm sun to enjoy at the end of the day would be nice. Better than these norms anyway.

Thanks, was thinking that as it seems a bit quieter in France atm so hopefully more will develop later.  Seems like Dorset, Wiltshire and Lincolnshire are the places to be so far!

Manchester Airport going for thunderstorms and heavy rain anytime from now up until 10pm, best developments look to be east of this low-level murk and the Beeb was going for a line of storms from Kent to the NW during the afternoon.

Constant thunder (some faint) for around an hour now.

Only seen 2 flashes of lightning though. More to come to my east by the looks of it.

Would just be nice to get in the garden with the sun out, I'm certain if that was the case it wouldn't be long until big towers shot up, then whatever the radar/lightning maps showed would be irrelevant.

Can here distant thunder on and off. Dark skies to my east.. Storms following same path for a couple days now. Just don't seem to want to come this far West, apart from the one this morning

I hoping for that Bristol cell won't die and reach the North-West by late-afternoon. Fingers crossed.
