If I was back in my hometown of Lowestoft, I'd be down by the coast looking out to sea very soon. I think it's almost possible that something may even brush through the town.

You know you're in a different phase of weather when you see a MCS actually move towards EA NW'wards!

Do you think this import will hit EA this eve or stay out to sea?  looks like its heading NNE to me judging by the strikes on lightening maps.

I have family in Lowestoft and Yarmouth (I'm from Lowestoft orginally)...I've alerted then to it on Facebook so hopefully someone will report back on what's going on! One or two lightning strikes already on land along the Suffolk coast.  I'll be in Lowestoft this time next week for my sister's wedding...if only it was today!

I'm sure my Mum will tell me all about the storms they've been having in our next phone conversation...although it will be an exaggerated version of events!

The so called MCS is twisting round to the left again that's interesting. Just ran the last 1hr animation.

Starting to get a bit more lively around Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth now.

Just checked any you are correct, very distinct anti clockwise rotation. If you look towards the back left side at that arc of rain wrapping around it almost looks like a pressure drop and a low pressure forming in the middle of the system.

Gord keep us updated mate. I did think about 30 minutes ago it might get lively around Lowestoft. It might not get direct but should be great light show.

Sadly I'm not in Lowestoft myself...but I have family there and am hoping someone will chime in soon from the town!  This time next week I'll be there though...although that's no good for this!

Still have a big interest in the weather over there having grown up there in the 80s and the 90s and having witnessed some amazing weather events there.

Getting a good show west of Norwich. No thunder as it's out too sea/over the coast but looks great. Please swing in land a bit but don't think it's going too

Yeah seeing some nice flashes here too. Not seen any forks though but definitely very bright on occasions. A different the this mornings purple forks more white in colour this time.

That is an interesting storm system Snowjoke.

what`s the definition for a "spanish plume" in the UK? T850 > 15°C?

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but running the radar animation back over the last hour, is that hook echo on the southern edge of the MCS to the east of Kent?

An amazing picture of lightning on Yarmouth seafront on Twitter. Just search 'Yarmouth'.

There's also a Facebook page called Lowestoft Weather Warnings where there are updates and pictures.

My own family have gone rather quiet over there...maybe they've powered down!

I did notice the hook but I'm not sure that it is a bit too big but could possibly have been brief rotation.
