newbie, amateur question; the stuff over le havre now looks as though it's grown pretty quickly and smaller bits and pieces seem to be bubbling over the channel...is the large one over la havre likely to die as it crosses the channel or strengthen, and could it affect london later?

thanks

Quite a few of the storms in Northern France today will be surface based, these sometimes don't really survive the channel crossing. I wouldn't rule anything out though.

I wonder what the chances of this storm near coventry to start taking a more north west ward track once it reaches a bit further north?

Maybe wishful thinking as I want a storm, but ya never know.

Hope so! Had nothing so far!

Looks like NW England could be in for more moderate convective rain this afternoon as the main storm heads North over the Pennines region. I'm in Central Manchester ATM, and the sun is out and it's hot, but this rain doesn't seem to be utilising all the potential.I think you could get a storm later, the trajectory of those storms is N ATM.

lets hope so but could do without power cut tackle

Certainly worth keeping an eye on isn't it, can't see anything else as juicy as that developing now, although the sun has finally broke through here.

That was a corker, constant loud thunder for about half an hour.  I'm in Dordon but up on a hill so had a perfect view for miles to the east (Atherstone/Hinckley direction).  Haven't had a storm like this since I was a child - epic stuff!

I'm just waiting for this storm to weaken or change direction completely just as it gets here. This is how three years of storm watching has jaded me, I can't imagine what it's like for those with more experience!

20 minutes of very heavy rain some hail, and 1 or two lightning strikes. Followed by The rain finishing now but lightning strikes are more frequent and a lot closer. Crackling noise every time.

Very dark and threatening to the south of here, and I can hear thunder. Tension rising in case it moves to the left/right/ disintigrates etc etc.

Looking like it maybe will go just to east of us. Going to be close if it survives this far.

Something is headed this way. The sky has changed and it's horribly humid once again. I've also got a stormy headache. Off to look at the radar!

looking at the wind direction on all layers bar one the 500pha they all from the sse which means it should hit the 500 pha is from the ssw. It seems to be following that one which will push it too just to the east of us.

The track looks like it will pass to the east of Sheffield in to Doncaster.  Will be too far east for us.   At least i will see it from a distance.
