On satellite it looks like cloud has cleared around and to the west of the capital with temperatures there at 25c and rising. If a storm can fire in this area it will take advantage of very high CAPE and other parameters which could allow a severe thunderstorm to develop and push north. Also, the storms around Wiltshire could begin to attain severe characteristics as they spread north.

The far east of Sheffield may get some action in a bit.

Ha ha Shane well its about time us Bristol lot got our share we've had to wait months for something.

Must admit it does feel good that we're getting storms and peeps who have had there fair share of storms already this year are not.

Not meant in a horrible way but you know where I'm coming from.

Hopefully the ones who have missed out so far do get something eventually.

Good luck.

More activity being detected from the cell South of Bristol so a direct hit possible here? Although not as much as what is happening towards Swindon...wow!

Unfortunatly the cloud clearance is looking temporary here in the SE,a decaying piece of cr*p in the channel just off Brighton is throwing another cloud sheet across us here! You couldn't make it up...

I just hope that the intense storms I have seen over the last 18 hours hasn't affected my love and excitement of the more ordinary variety.

Anyone else worry about this ?

I really want to feel the full impact of this humidity this afternoon. I'm hoping this cloud will clear to let the sun out for an hour!

Wiltshire storm system has taken a distinct rightward movement in the last 30 mins, more evident on the lightning charts. If it moves towards the areas with high cape values it's going to become a monster.

Todays turned into an absolutely putrid day more reminiscent of early November than July. No sun so far, light rain before and now we don't even have that! Just a constant grey layer of murk that is keeping temps down and killing off any chance of any activity. Currently only nudging 18c.

Was expecting a lot more than this for here today. Apart from the lightning in the early hours this morning theres been nothing but grey sky and showers. Not looking good so far.

Seems not to have affected the ardour of the Shermanator for UK storms. Paul is probably the most qualified on here to comment I feel. He was out and about last night on the South Coast taking piccies of what our French cousins are giving us by way of cast-offs.

This should set your mind at ease....

I think that Wiltshire Lightning system will go north to the north-west. I hope it will grow further and gets here in the north-west. I think Birmingham urban heat will help it to grow further and stay in the game.
