Thunder and lightning been going on for nearly 2 hours here now, but only been raining for about 30 minutes. Seen lots of IC and a couple CG, in all directions including overhead. Longest lasting storm for several years.

Was woken here in South Manchester by lightening about 15 mins ago. Lay in bed watching with the curtains open and some cracking fork lightening getting closer by the second. Just started raining.

Must admit, the radar isn't looking as colourful as I thought it would be. Bed beckons I reckon....quite a nice light show in comparison to recent years but certainly nowt severe in any way, shape or form.

Just looks like moderate rain across the Midlands on the radar. Something showing up now off the S coast but I'm not staying up for that!

ETA just seen huge orange CG strike but cannot hear thunder yet.
