Storm to the south is doing the best part of 1 strike every 2 seconds.

The sky to my south is just while flashes now.

Lynxus. .I don't think we'll get much until the cell, presently over Wester-super Mare, reaches us. As you see/hear it's gone a bit quiet. The rest is slipping by just to our  east..I'm in Abbeydale.

Problem about getting out to a higher location for photos is, will be,the rain.

Looked south? Flashing constant..

Noticed something incredibly interesting before. As a blanket of low cloud dissipated, it revealed a layer of high-level convective cloud which was thick enough to produce a couple of light showers. As the drops fell onto skin they felt gritty. A couple of drops landed on my laptop screen too and once evaporated and dried they left a deposit of tiny dry particles, which I can only assume is pollen and dust from high in the atmosphere, possibly from France and Spain which have been carried aloft over the last few days. Would also explain why there were many reports of 'yellow lightning' last night... Never seen anything like it before as there was so much powdery deposit left over from the drops, a fine layer on some objects in the garden!

Well there is a storm near the Sussex coast at the moment. Why don't you set an alarm for 02:30 or 03:00 and see if there is anything going on when you get up?

Yeah, I'll probably do that. Will leave the window open as well as that's what woke me last night. Could potentially be a monster if all the activity to the south comes over.

Good luck to you.

Just had a cloud fart in Cannock (didn't qualify as a storm). Looks like things are taking shape down south though!

The storm near Bristol is really quite active now. Is this going to be the main one tonight? Loads of strikes. Will it hold or pulse out like so many of the others.

Raining heavier again now. Its gone extremely muggy since the storm passed, its almost hazy outside - I assume from the rain being evaporated by the heat.

Popped out for a quick ciggie about 10 minutes ago, and saw a couple of flashes to the sw of here. No thunder heard, but the dog has just pricked his ears up and left his comfy bed to go into hiding behind the sofa so we could be in for something soon  :yahoo:

Completely bone dry when I first went out, and eerily quiet, then it was like someone turned a tap on!

Came down to the Estuary earlier to watch it come over from Kent, what an amazing show it was, now wishing i had stayed there.

It's all kicking off here. Just seen a Polish guy running around the road threatening to cut an Irish guy's head off. Oh you thought I'd caught some storm activity? Nope.

Those channel storms look a lot better for London than the MCS earlier mind you with 500 hpa winds progged to back more S/SSE in the coming hours.
