Distant rumbles and flashes here. It has kicked off sooner than expected. Will this affect what is due to arrive after midnight? IE the juicy stuff?

the sky to the south has turned really pinky red to the extent that everything in the house and the street looks bathed in a nice pinky hue. I wonder if this is connected with the upcoming storm.

Very strange skies here, the frontal cloud has developed 'fingers or streaks'. Massive amounts of IC lightning spanning the whole horizon, maybe 10 miles end to end. No rain just yet, just standing in the garden with a cold beer enjoying the show!

It's all a weird orange here - like wearing orange shades.

Can the Londoners hear the thunder and see the flashes of lightning yet?

Just off the phone with a mate in south east London they can see lightning but couldn't hear thunder. Although that could of changed!

Wow again from twitter

is there a meteorlogical term for those blue wavey bands above the clouds in that photo?   and what exactly are they?

Commentators at the Cricket at Canterbury on Sky Sports 2 just mentioned a "tornado" nearby. They were broadcasting from a room somewhere instead the ground taking shelter. Match has been abandoned so they've now gone off air.

Kent storm maturing now but a belter all the same . Chased a bit but it got away.

Sweltering hot in the south. Keeping my eyes on bid at but nothing wet appearing on rain radar...
