Damn, looks like the cell heading for London has died. Sky still ominously dark though, so maybe the heat of the city will revive it! *fingers crossed*

If anyone wanted to know what a mackerel sky was but was too afraid to ask, I gift you an example for free.

And YES that is mammatus under the anvil of the MCS!!! (Wow...I was only photographing the mackerel sky then noticed the mamma)

Another Level 2 yaaay. My dilemma is thus...stay in NW Kent or travel to Dymchurch (Kent coast for afternoon/overnight for imports)

Very angry skies to the south here in Croydon, just seen a flash of lightning across the sky too, but strangely no thunder.

That sky is unreal on the Kent v Somerset T20 Blast game

Absolutely pitch black to the south, yet still brightish to the north...

Hi there

I don't normally post but I'm begging for an answer. I have a son with down syndrome who gets extremely nervous with thunder and lightning.

So I can prepare him could anyone please tell me if Stokenchurch (6 miles west of High Wycombe?) Is likely to get anything tonight.

I appreciate any help in advance.

Thank you

Of particular concern are areas of reduced vertical mixing, which allow a moisture accumulation and the maintenance of enhanced low-level shear and helicity. This can be expected along the sea breeze front in Northern France and Belgium, and in general in Eastern England, where warm air advection re-intensifies on the forward flank of a weak surface low which is forecast to track from Northwestern France (06 UTC) into Northern England (18 UTC). If diurnal heating and/or the lift impulse by outflow boundaries suffice to break the capping inversion in these regions, particularly well-organized supercells could spawn a few tornadoes, possibly even including a strong one. However, mesoscale developments need to be awaited before the degree of this threat can further be specified.
Despite remaining uncertainties due to downstream effects of overnight's vigorous storms, a level 2 seems to be warranted.
