Another thing to consider is just rapidly storms formed last night and I guess may do again tonight.

If you view the midnight then 01.00 satellite imagery there is a major difference between the band of cloud over the South at midnight then by 1am 3 or 4 distinct rounded CBs.

Feels like abroad out there. What is that smell that you get in the air when it's humid?

The only smell I have here at work is from the muck spraying on the fields next door, that just happens to be on potentially the hottest day of the year.

It really stinks

I've just seen the amber warnings, nice to be in that. It doesn't surprise me one bit either, the ingredients are awe-inspiring. I'm not sure about other areas, but the fire brigade are on strike here from 10pm to 2am.

Not sure what to make of tonights situation, pretty sure i will be too far north however so the car is brimmed up and a trip down the M1 may be in order!

Tomorrow however is looking good for some home grown beauties!

Its finally been a good year for storm lovers!  :D

Surely, if anything, last night has proven its all about simply keeping your eyes and ears peeled. I dont recall one suggestion of any action for London area last night (be it on the telly or on here) yet we had easily the best night for many a year. Time to stop worrying whether you are in the zone or not and simply let the excitement build into the midnight hour ....

This  not a squeak about last nights storm for London and SE.. Keep the heavy rain, gimme the lightning :)

It's strange, there's nothing in the way of heat here, it's feeling fairly fresh considering the humidity is high. It's only 21C nothing but complaints from folks asking where the heatwave is? lol

Wish this overcast dross would shift itself. Getting the worst of both worlds atm! Hopefully we might see some action tomorrow. But not hopeful on past form.

London last night.  I don't think I've seen something like that in years.  Let's hope tonight is a mouthwatering MCS, we deserve it.   Harry/Lauren may know the last MCS import we had; it's going back over a decade ago or more.

This crud covering the skies can't be doing much good. Although at least it's keeping it more comfortable I suppose!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
