Seeing some very impressive IC lightning here, no wind to speak of, vertical rain and very loud thunder!

The Basildon storm is intensifying as it heads East, it started off as a very little rain affair with IC's but has matured to a full blown CG, be safe everyone in its track!

Yeah it's frustrating. We haven't has a single thunderstorm here this year really, just  a few distant rumbles and some near misses. I thought with this heat and humdity something would have kicked off by now.

Pleasantly surprised with the two storms, although nothing jaw dropping, I'll take two hours of rolling thunder any day!! :)

First signs of electrical activity appearing over the Irish Sea !!...

Had a downpour about an hour ago. Lasted no more than 30 seconds, now heavy fog.

The Met Office have us down for a hail shower tonight at 18C. I don't see that very often.

very dark out back a little way off. radar shows it to be a light shower near Luton. Nice breeze and a bit of high cloud.

I know today isn't over yet but could there be more possibilities of storms tomorrow in the southeast and east. Looks to be muggy again, temps looking not quite so high though and DLS lacking again. Any more experienced forecaster welcome to look into it in more detail :)

That was quite fun. Lots of thunder, ccs and some cgs, one of which was huge and sounded like an explosion while I was parked up near Braintree. Taking the cross-country route through torrential(!) rain was not the wisest move as it was more like driving a speedboat than a car given the size of the bow wave. I decided discretion was the better part of valour in the end.

Best storm of the year so far round here, but not a spectacular by any means.

Can still see the lightning out back to the East, now it's getting dark.
