A nice line of thundery rain now moving slowly n east across the s west ,but although there is good potential as is mostly the case ,it looks hit and miss .as for potential friday almost anywhere could catch some intense downpours and storms but at this stage forecasting locations i feel is going to be hard .Truckers are reporting torrential downpours now in some locations in the s west ,with reports from devon of monsoon type rain near torquay and devon corn border .lets hope we can see some action overnight as many a good storm if it happens is far more interesting when dark ,window rattlers and flashes to read a paper by would be nice .pour out a STella its Game on for some ,cheers all and best of luck .

It just went through here, no thunder but some torrential rain, huge drops. The usual "roads like rivers" thing. :)

Would be nice to get a storm tomorrow. The end of June seems a common time to get storms here and would be a nice early Birthday treat. :)

Had some heavy (briefly very heavy) rain earlier but none of the torrential downpours on radar, max rain rate 16.8mm/hr and a total of 7.4mm according to the Davis VP2, though the manual gauge says 6.8mm.Now overcast and 14.4c, so not very summery..

Why do I feel that London, the SE and East Anglia will mostly miss out again?

what on earth is a non convective shower please William. By definition a shower falls from convective cloud?

Of course it comes from a cloud but they don't have to convect over land.

Had some heavy rain at about 12:30 and then a torrential downpour earlier.

Haha likewise, some 20 miles to the north of London is more prone to storms, this year. Where there is potential, I live in hope - I reckon we would get some PPN but will that come with the T/L :D

Oh, my mistake. I'm just saying that some showers can come a long way without having to become present by convection over land.

Convection isn't exclusively land-based.

I'm glad that 'the convective shower' point is sorted out, it's been worrying us all half to death  :good:

So then, steady as opposed to thundery rain here currently, some sferic activity was recorded over the French coast earlier but they've died off.....eyes down to the south west approaches where some beefy *ahem* convective downpours are heading towards the south west peninsular

Yeah, it's possible but currently it looks unlikely, I wish the sun would come out, just stubborn clag at the moment.

I think the NMM might be putting things a bit too far North, either way, not expecting much here.

did I say the convection had to come from the land?
