I heard on the weather forecast, later in the evening some storms could be triggered over the London area...

Glastonbury looks like having a bit of wetness. I haven't been for years, but the last time I went people had heatstroke rather than trench foot! I'm heading to Paris on Saturday afternoon and then onto Dijon, looks like another few days of shower dodging - ah well!

Been a bit of a thunderyawn today.

Lots of cumulus with the right look and potential, but - like the England team - the performance is lacking.

Saw some really fast growing towers over central London earlier, but they just fizzled away eventually.

Would be nice to be surprised by something later on but not counting on it ;-(

Now, I reckon there was a rumble of thunder around 15 minutes ago (central Leicester) but cannot be 100% sure, there is nowt showing in any of my lightning app's, so am I correct in thinking cloud to cloud and intra cloud lightning does not show on lightning app's? Sure I read that on here the other day, cannot find the thread, let alone the post!!!!

Nothing on the radar suggests heavy showers or thunder in the Leicester area recently.

Anybody thinking that tomorrow night will bring something to SW England?

IMHO, Nothing more than a few scattered showers with the odd bit of prolonged light to moderate rain at times.

Looks quite, quite boring tbh for a few days at least... Possibly something for the midlands on Friday.

Yeah possibly the most likely, it just looked like a short band of heavy/torrential rain moving up from the SW on Thursday evening.

We need another nice warm, moist plume.

Friday and Saturday looks more interesting in terms of thundery activity.

Yeah, I agree.

Not that I often follow the BBC 5-dayers as they are rarely correct, Friday featured a lightning symbol for the West Country on Friday. TV forecasts also mentioned slow moving thundery showers just about anywhere across the southern half of the country. At least being a slacker flow, thunderstorms could pop up all over the place.

Looks pretty good for the Midlands on Friday. Last nights BBC mentioned of heavy thunderstorms about.

Think its gonna be one of those weekends where 1 day a storm hits you smack on, the next one its just north of you,, the day after south of you.. rinse repeat!!

No rain here since June 8th, which incidentally was the last time there was a thunderstorm, so could definitely do with a dousing as both lawns are browning rapidly.

These are a couple of pics I took yesterday while working. Got these pics just before I had to drive into it to get back to the branch, oh the pain lol!

Taken on the Norwich to Fakenham road heading towards Norwich near Foulsham. Quite a monster it was, the rain didn't let up for at least 30 minutes. There was a lot of thunder and a bit of lightning reported in Norwich but I only saw a couple of flashes and heard a few rumbles as I arrived towards the city centre. Didn't help with the sound of the van I was driving. Roads were flooding and a lot of spray, got lots of video from the drive back I hope to edit and get it on youtube soon.

May as well attach the pic of the storm approaching the day before, this time without having to flip it. Saw more lightning with this one, all in all a good couple of days. Got some video of this too.

It's very dry here too, but thunderstorm/torrential rain is as effective as a fart in a wind tunnel for watering a garden.
