Just mooching the latest charts and the NW ones for thursday seem to show temps getting down to 2'c over parts of eastern England and Lincs?

Both the min and max show 2'c.

Is there a chance of it actually getting that cold in late June?

Yes it can but it is unlikely to verify. Min 3.5c here last night but we have had an air frost in June before, so 2c is possible virtually anywhere inland in the UK. Maxima-wise 2c is impossible, infact for lowland England and Wales anything below 9c in late June is virtually impossible,

GFS temperatures are very bad.. it shows 4C for my area.. that would most likely be a record low temperature for June here. More likely to be 8-10C in many areas

I think he's referring to the maximum temperature shown at that point in the night, not the overall maximum that day.

I think what may have been referred to is that for the same time, say 06z, the model shows what the max and min are likely to be at that time? It is not a prediction for the day time.

Not sure about the East but very likely in the Northern Highlands tonight. Met O has min of 3C.

Glen's and Valleys/Hollows could be prone, In the East.

It'll be interesting to see how low we'll go tonight, the clearance from the North has just arrived and the temperature has already dropped over a degree in 25 minutes.

Ive never recorded a sub-5C minima after mid-June, so that would be quite notable.

At the moment though its still 9.6C, but plenty of time yet.

Never use the GFS min predictions. Always miles out. Leave it on Max and you'll get a closure more correct prediction. It may work better for rural areas well away from cities otherwise miles off. Anyway for here it was  5c to 3c off.

We went down to 7.0C here in the end, so nothing notable but still around 4C below average.
