August on the horizon and after a wet mostly overcast day, oh dear it feels more like late August than late July this evening - noticeably dull, and darkening skies now, lights on since half 8..

Whilst firmly in the height of summer at the moment, and the warmest core period of the year, no denying the fact we are edging further and further away from that late spring/early summer feeling - by August its gone.. regardless if the sun shines all day and we are in the low 30's such August days can't compete with May or June in overall wonderful feel. Not a fan of August at all.

The best period for longest evenings and early sunrises seems to be at its peak from mid May until late July. Looks like from this Wednesday it’s all getting slightly closer to darker days.

August is still a good month, but the downside is, summer is almost over.

I'd say August is the best summer month.  Summer only really ends on the equinox in my book.  Something about the heat and the nights closing in reminds me of the Caribbean where the evenings are very short (i.e. sunset around 7PM)

Last night was the first night I really realised the nights were drawing in

Was about quarter past 9 and pitch black outside :(

don't want the long, dark nights back yet

9 o’clock and not far off of full darkness! Give it a couple of weeks and it will be nearer 8 o’clock, bring it on I say, starting to get truly fed up of these long warm sunny summer days, the sooner Autumn is here the better.

It's funny how we make such a big deal about the changing daylight even though it's happens every single year.. you'd think we'd be used to it by now!

First morning I can say I’ve really noticed the changes tbh. Sunrise is 0555 this morning so the sky light is the same as it would have been at 0445 6 weeks ago.

Mornings getting darker now, so sleeping longer. I do like the darker evenings though,  get home from work  light the woodburner , and settle in.

Getting very noticeable in the evenings.

Looking forward to mellow evenings. Like the heat, but when I'm at home in a tee-shirt and shorts, not suited and booted in an office without air conditioning.

Roll on October.

We had a bit of a clear slot last night (first in a while) at 10pm noticed at how dark it was outside and was completely dark about 12 I think. Definety no more lingering twilight this year

This time of year, the light change in the evenings seems so rapid. At my location  sunset  tonight  was 8.30pm but it will be 7.52pm by the end of the month, that's some leap in just over a fortnight. It does catch you out, I've been watering my allotment at 9.15pm for ages - went to put my coat on last night to do the same and it was dark!

Very noticeable the loss of light on an evening now. Looking forward to cool September evenings and misty mornings
