Noticed longer shadows today! Looked up on weatherspark.com to find that the 1 o'clock sun height today would be around 10 o'clock sun height in June :)

Loving these drawing in nights,so much nicer for sleeping i find, early starts means early to bed and without that sunshine its just so much better.

We start to see a notable decrease in daylight from now until the clocks go back, roughly 2 minutes am and pm each day, the gradient of loss being its steepest through September and October.

Clear skies still allow sufficient light up until 8pm, but its a loosing battle from now on, and a sunny evening by the end of September quickly descends into a dark one by 7.30pm, conversely a wet evening can see street lights turned on by 7pm in as little as a couple of weeks time.

Yes the rate of change in daylight hour is at its max just either side of the  equinoxes.

East facing bedrooms are fantastic this time of year, opening the curtains to see the gentle orange glow of dawn, perfect.

7.45pm and dark

It's 8pm and almost totally dark here, even with perfectly clear skies. I went abroad for nearly a week and in that time we've lost nearly half an hour of daylight, was a bit of a shock being back today. We're really on the slide now.

Alas Winter is coming and the dark nights will be upon us soon. Of Course the clocks go back less than 2 months before the shortest day, but we wait 3 months to move them forward?!!! North America doesn't wait!

The debate for years has been about moving the clocks permanently but this is understandably controversial because it is so dark in December & Janaury. However, we could just bring them forward a little sooner.  A small change like this would be a boost for many as it really would feel like Winter has ended early. It'll make the evening rush hour in March safer too for the majority.

There is a petition called bring March into the light. The proposal is to put the clocks forward at the end of Feb or start of March instead of the end of March.

If you agree please sign the petition & share it with others!! Thank you!
