Already gaining an extra minute of daylight in the evening.

Reading back i probably should have elaborated. The increase is now at least a minute later each day.

28 December - the darkest morning here. After today, the mornings and the evenings will be getting lighter. Lovely! :)

I'm on 08:28 for the sunrise until Jan 4th when it will rise at 08:27 the afternoons are getting longer though gaining 1 minute each day it will stay that way till around the 5th when every other day gains 2 minutes (1 minute gained on the 5th 2 minutes on the 6th and so on)

Yes I've noticed its not getting fully dark till just after 16:30 on a clear night up here as well with the sun setting at 15:52 today

January 8th sees the sun setting after 4pm for the first time since November 19th :)

Long dark nights

It always surprises me how much difference there is east to west, it's especially noticeable around the solstices.
For example Whitby and Darlington are on similar latitude - and barely 40 miles apart I expect - but sunrise and set are a good minute or two earlier in the east.

Lovely sunset tonight still a strong glow , and big moon in East ,it's getting noticeable now ....

I did notice that sunset tonight too, and took me a while to realise how much later it was.

Last night was the first time it was noticeable for me too. The sun was still glinting through the trees at 15:40 when 3 weeks ago it would have set.

Just about light enough to walk the dog around the fields with no torch. Only in the last few days have we been able to do that after 4.30, so quite a noticeable lengthening of the late afternoon light.

Still quite light here too. The nights are drawing out! :D

Drawing in, in fercrissakes - as in contracting/shrinking/receding. In/out, shake it all about - either way the misery season is slowly but surely in ascension. It seems like 5 minutes ago that the clocks went back. Who knows where the time goes, Sandy?

Deffo noticed it getting darker later here today and for the first time. That is one thing January has over Nov/Dec - the vice slowly releasing again! Very slowly admittedly but still...

Evenings are becoming more noticeable now, but the mornings you can't tell at all. 8am and it's barely getting light.

It goes so quick as we don't have long from the clocks going back to the shortest day

Clocks went back on October 26th - Shortest day December 21st = 8 weeks

Clocks go forward on March 29th - Longest day June 21st = 12 weeks

That extra month makes a big difference

I noticed the mornings are on the turn..the birds were singing and morning was breaking when I was walking to the tube station at 6.30am today.
