Herts Fire Control tweeted: 'We're receiving numerous calls to flooding and fire alarms actuating in St Albans. We believe this Is due to storms'

Pretty crazy weather here!

Afternoon all,

Its been quite a while since I have been on here, mainly because I have been outside enjoying the summer weather.

A couple of flashes and rumbles of thunder followed by about 5 mins of light rain here in Central London (Victoria) and it all seems to be over for now...

UPDATE: clouding over  again with a little more light rain and distant rumbles

LOL updating the update - heavier rain and loudish thunder now over Victoria

Cheers

It's coming for me

You're perfectly safe indoors, it hasn't got anything personal against you! :)

I know all this :( I seem a tiny bit less anxious. In the daytime. If this was night time I'd be crying by now :)

It's because the lightning is more enhanced and you can't see the storm clearly, so I guess your imagination runs riot! :)

No monsoons here in Victoria though it is raining now but not that heavily, we probably just on the edge of your 'monsoon' :-)

Cheers

Looks like there could be a few more storms starting to queue up in the North Sea...

I don't know what it is, sheer panic is the way I explain it to people, it's not even my imagination I just panic

Wow! So storms give you a panic attack? Well hopefully you don't get them very often where you are! I know quite a few people who suffer from panic attacks due to thunderstorms too! It's the lightning and claps of thunder they don't like. I have a third storm developing to my NE, the temps is 24c! falls to 21c during the storms!

Is it moving towards London?

Hard to say, it looked like it was definately going to hit Great Yarmouth, now it has spread out a bit and dropped. So probably yeah you London and South East are gonna nick it again! :(

The one that's here now is not as bad as the one that went through London (as in there's less red on the radar) and I'm literally on the sea so hopefully she'll. Such them away quickly. X

Massive downpour in Rayleigh in Essex around 1pm, one of the most impressive rainstorms I've seen, there was no real lead up period to the heavy rain, just went from dry to biblical rain in seconds with almost instant flash flooding. Very strong winds as well which blew a tree over on our road and littered the place with leaves and twigs.

Plenty of thunder and lightning as well though most was quite distant.
